Sorry, it seemed like you were insinuating I was supporting the falsification. My mistake.

There are two issues with manually switching. The first is the lockout screen takes up to two minutes before allowing me to make the switch. That is a design flaw or a problen with my "dongle" - not exactly clear.

The second is one of focus. Do I want a driver focused on safely backing, coupling, etc or do I want him worried about his log?

As to thr train situation - I brought that up with Safety and he told me that's what the rules are. My response was " you threaten to fire me 6 years ago for doing that", he said "I know, but thats what the rule is, and you can manually say no or add that time back in as driving".

Any movement of the truck must be annotated. Logging off at a location and then the truck registering movement is going to stand out in an audit.

I fully expect fines to ramp up as they find folks falsifying elds.

It would seem to me that is your own problem not an eld problem and I refer to the quote dont haul cheep freight . That also applies to company drivers. IMO the eld is not the problem people who are willing to work for free are the problem.

Can anyone here, especially our resident pontificators and they know who they are, produce one piece of evidence of anyone having problems with the law for logging yard moves on line 4?

    Not several, just ONE.

    I’d be very surprised.

I love how some here in this thread presume to dictate to others how to handle circumstances that they themselves seldome encounter.

How could they? It is built right into the regulation.

I won’t do it, and I know nobody who has ever done that. What better way to shoot one’s self in the ### than sacrificing drive time when there’s no need to.

I must have misunderstood your question.

I took it as you were asking for an example of the law (LEO) for logging a yard move. I do not know how they could considering it is allowed in the regulation.
