The 4mph threshold it suppose to accommodate driveline movement that might happen when a truck is parked. A truck rocking from movement in the cab or from the wind can give a reading of speed on the driveline. The threshold may be tightened in the future.

While I totally get what your saying, but the reason why everyone in grocery screws the pooch, is because they know most truck drivers will right paper to make things look good in their coloring book.

This has allowed shippers and receivers to hire their unskilled and mathematically inept in-laws in well paying jobs scheduling loads and unloads. They just pull numbers out their ### and expect drivers to write the paper to accommodate their ineptitude.

Sitting in traffic or waiting on a train at the controls of truck has always been 'on-duty driving' unless of course you care to falsify your logs and preserve your hours like some are accusing others of doing.

I agree. So did my Safety Manager - until the eld mandate. Now after 5 minutes spent sitting completely still he and the lawyers think its perfectly acceptable to log it line 4. Yard movement isn't acceptable (despite being in the regs), nor is having it kick to line 4 after shutting down the truck, but sit still for 5 minutes - yep thats a-okay now.

And this is why driver facing cameras will be the next mandate to come down the pike. Or we'll lose PC because of it's abusers.

Good thing is a new pc guidance is comming down. It basically says pc can be used anytime, as long as the load isn't advanced.

No, it says you can't be advancing towards your next load.
IF your loaded you can't use PC ( legally)

Right now yes. The new guidance will specifically state one can be loaded. (Mostly to allow straight trucks to use pc) I'm on my phone and cannot find a link directly to fmcsa, but this is a good article. .The FMCSA Proposes and Seeks Input on New PC Guidance

Wouldn't moving laterally or backwards by definition be NOT advancing towrds your next load?
