5th Wheel Pin kit for Running End Dump

I’ll try to post a picture once I get it fabbed up. But I’m thinking of a bracket that mounts like the picture I posted. But I’m going to make it like a C style that will be under the front and rear. So the 5th wheel can’t move forward or back. Hope that makes sense.

on crazy ways to do it. I got a truck from TXI concrete plant and rock quarry that had the plate welded solid. That was the only way they knew how to do it. The truck was 30 years old and the plate was the original.
Heldt Bros. Trucks in the oilfield used to run solid welded plates on their heavy haul tractors. They claimed it help dampen the bounce from the walking beam rears.

 

I’ve welded it solid, billy bob’ed it with iron bolted on kinda like what your thinking to do , then I paid a fab guy to do the long pin style best money I’ve ever spent can pull the pin out in a second done clean not covered in grease. Whatever you do just set it up to not have any slop, the fifth wheel banging around when the trailers up in the air and muddy dirt stuck isn’t good

 

That right there is what I was trying to describe.

 

I made up a bracket today. It’s not pretty but I think it will work. I just worked with what I had in the garage. I’m thinking about welding on some tube steel at the end of the bracket to provide some extra support under the fifth wheel. Not sure how much weight/force that bracket will need to handle.

I would definitely add more to the ends at least. Every time you take off on slow down the fifth wheel will be trying to crush it.

 

I ended up using some angle iron on the ends. Seems pretty strong. Just a little difficult because under the fifth wheel plate is not a solid surface.

 

That ought to work at least for awhile
