So today I had a drop and hook at a Home Depot. They tell you what MT to pick up. So I drop. Then locate the trailer. I back up to it and look at crossroads. Pending defects. Okay, great. I check to see the defect. It says "battery dead". Wtf? Battery? Trailer? I'm confused. I'm certain there's no battery on these trailers. So I look around for another Schneider driver. Jackpot!!! I get a mobile maintenance guy. So awesome. Hopefully he's not a jerk I think as I drive to him. And man I'm about to sound like an idiot. I ask to bother him he's more than willing to help. He looks up the trailer number for me I tell him about the battery. He said the only battery is for the GPS unit and camera for inside the trailer. I didn't know about the camera. He said he didn't have any info about it so he'd come look at it with me. Sweet. I figured I'd hit this bad arse guy up with sine other questions. Oh and btw he said the trailer was scheduled for disposal back in 2014. Lol great. So we get there and he shows me that there is no GPS unit. I didn't even notice it wasn't there. He said there's no reason it can't leave. Not a rolling defect so roll on. I asked him something that had been bothering me. He sounded knowledgeable. And I think he got it right. But here it was. The good one inspection sticker. I told him I had been getting to some trailers that had been flagged with defect for inspection. But the year part was good. I was told that was the only one that mattered. But what I had been noticing was of the top was expired then some drivers would fail it in inspection. But then also sometimes I would notice the top date was the same as the inspection date. He said some mechanics don't know how to fill it out. Actually he said most don't lol. He said he's been seeing it more and more himself. So, right or wrong, disagree or agree or theories? Go!!!
Oh and stay away from toilet urinal mouth smelling Jill. Ewww91B20H8 Thanks this. -
Saw this outside the Indy OC. Air conditioner unit. I say fork wherever the fork you want.
Was thinking about a thread of just funny nonsense we've seen. I saw a sign the other day that said "no drug zone". It had one of those intimidating red circles with a slash in it. But it got me into thinking. Is there a drug zone? Does this sign deter drugs? Has a person with drugs or a drug dealer seen this sign and turned around because it was illegal to have illegal drugs there? Exactly what is the size of a "zone"? Are we dealing with a certain radius? Or is it square miles? Can I have cigarettes there? What about over the counter drugs like cough drops? Sudafed is used to make meth. So are batteries. Can these be in this zone? No. I'm not on drugs. I'm a truck driver. I have to much time to think.SingingWolf, 91B20H8, Home_on_wheels and 1 other person Thank this. -
I've got my longest haul yet. Indy to Loredo. 1325 miles. Been waiting for the relay since last night. ETA has changed done 20 times. But woke up this morning to see he's crawling here. Says he's about an hour away. Think I'm going to stop home for tonight in Memphis. Might not though. Window for delivery is 0800-1100 Monday morning. If I bypass home I can probably make it. I crunch the numbers as I'm driving. Have a feeling if I don't make the window I'll be sitting. So may be better to get there asap instead. Think I just saw the truck pull in. I'm off!!!

Hmmmm, just wow. So the previous driver pulls in. I track him down. I asked him if he had repair issues as the reason he was late. He said no, just an old truck. I said there are 3 defects on it. One for the tag light out, another for frame/misc (real specific schneider) and the other for parking and back up lamps. Dude said I kid you not, "inspection sticker was good, so I just took it". I look it over. Only issue I could find was the light out for the plate. "You didn't pretrip this trailer?" I said. He said no, it didn't come up with any defects when he assigned it to himself from the previous driver so he figured it was good. Then. The best part. He gives me the paperwork. I asked for the scale ticket. He gives me one from VA. He picked this up in MI. I told him it was wrong. He said that he must have thrown it away by accident. But assured me I'll be alright. Yeah ok buddy. So I went to service. Gave the trailer number. I hear again, that trailer was scheduled for disposal last year. Wtf? So I sit in the bay. Waiting to get the green light to go. Another delay. I'm wondering if this is a cause for me to go home. Divine intervention of some kind. My daughter is likely getting out of the hospital on Monday. But she has visitation tomorrow afternoon. Maybe could surprise her? I won't be home till Friday. 2-3 is her visitation and I would have originally expected to be in TX by then. Again I'll crunch the numbers on the road.....

Express guy can't figure it out. They don't have an opening until 4pm today. I'm kind of ticked at myself for logging on duty for my pretrip. Now it screws me up all together. Delivery has been extended to Tuesday. So I've got time there. Now if I figure it out right I can definitely see my daughter. Wife and I were just planning on me stopping there tonight to meet up for dinner. I asked for a truck quickie and she laughed. I'm not sure if it was the good "yes" kind of laugh or the bad "no" kind of laugh. Just to prove the horrible person I am while typing that my mind wandered to a podcast I'm listening to. They were talking about truck drivers being the best serial murderers. Being that we're (we're as in truckers not we're as in murderers shorts and sandals guy) never in one place long, mostly not regularly in the same area and hard to track. I wasn't planning on murdering my wife. Just how my mind wanders. But I would feed her to gators. Not really. Ok kind of really. But not seriously. Ok enough of that. Can I or rather, should I edit my 25 min on duty time back to off? To regather (is that a word?) A full 14?
Ok they just came to me. I pulled in the bay again. We'll see if we can get on the road....
