Have I got a story to post about this Dollar General I went to yesterday. Amongst all my misfortune this could have saved me from it all and sent me straight to my mansion in the sky. But no such luck. I'm done being loaded and I'm heading back all the way around the lot to go get my paperwork. I'm traveling at a safe 15 mph through the lot. I'm heading straight so basically I have the right of way. Out from one of the letter lots this dollar general truck comes flying out workout stopping. Without looking. Without even a slight slow down. Dude had to be going 40mph. I slam on my brakes. He misses me by less than 10 ft. And offers this wave as he goes by. What a F'n arsehole. I go in the office and tell the lady. I couldn't get the truck number as he was moving faster than the speed of light. I got the last 3 digits of the trailer number. I told the lady and have her the last 3 digits. She could care less and gives me my paperwork. I leave and tell the guards. They offer "ohhhh yeah. They do it all the time. Have a nice day. Wtf? Seriously? So knock Schneider all you want. That wouldn't happen in our yard. And I feel they would care if you reported it. And btw, I'm not a guy that reports things. Snitches get stitches lol. But when my life is at the mercy of someone else being a #######. I'm going to say something. But thank goodness for my safety vest. Who would've known what could have happened if it weren't hanging on the seat next to me. Personally I feel it was the best thing that I was issued. Saved my life a couple times.
PS the end is sarcasm.... -
That's just another day at the big warehouses/dcs. They are pretty much all like that. Keep your head on a swivel or get run over.

Just got done with a live unload. They have signs every where "no dumping". I pull out slightly enough to close the trailer doors. I see they left all the rubber slide prevention mats. I climb in and start collecting them up. I get them all to the end of the trailer and a dock worker says "what are you going to do with those?". I said "they're yours so you got first dibs on them". "Noooo, we don't want them here. They're yours to take." He says. "I don't have anything to do with them. They came with your product but I'll kindly drop them in the dumpster for you bud" I say. "Not here man we don't allow dumping here. Don't you see all the signs?" He rebuttals. "I understand but they're yours. Forget it man I'll find something to do with them".
Happy Monday yall!!!! -

So, I'm almost 3 weeks in by myself. I still haven't hit anything. I almost did once leaving a P&G in Cincinnati. I almost shut down that block for the rest of the day. It was a really tight right hand turn. I thought I had swung out wide enough. But..... I didn't. I stopped. Backed up a tad and yanked it back to the left. Going clear into the far 2nd lane of traffic to clear it. A lady in an SUV was kind enough to move to allow me to go that far over. It was close. But I came out unscathed. That was a really killer day. Before that I had a live load south of Cincinnati that I passed. It was in the middle of a town of 800 people to give you an idea. Back roads barely wide enough to drive on. So I pass it on by and had to find a place to turn around. Good luck. Nothing had a parking lot that could hold more than 5 cars. But I finally came across a bingo hall. Sweet! I swing around in there and go back. They then tell me to go around the block to another place to load. Sure enough I passed that too. Here we go again. But not the same way as the bingo hall. Crap. 5 miles down the road I find a church. The parking lot was huge but it had drive lanes that were curbed. It's the best I'm going to get I think and swing in. I didn't even scrape a curb. I was impressed with myself. Then later on the light pole thing happened and I was beating myself up. This was last week. I've finally brought up the confidence to put it on here.
Like I said before I'm trying out running off of recap. I already don't like it. I messed it up the first day lol. I used up my hours but 3. Thinking I would be getting last Tuesdays hours yesterday to give me a full 9. Well I didn't get those hours yesterday. I got them today. So yesterday I spent all day watching TV in my truck. Really glad I got it for that reason. So today I got those hours back and was running again. Only had 8 hours so I had to so early. Found a nice truck stop 13 miles from my D&H tomorrow. I'll be going home on Friday. I'm kind of excited about that. 2 weeks without my wife and dogs is longer than I'm used to. But that just means I'll be probably sticking to going home every week. We video chat every night. So that is good. Talk for a couple hours. She's interested in coming out with me sometime. I've explained the not so nice things about being out here and she doesn't seem bothered. Which surprises me because she's a girly girl. Maybe you can tell from my profile picture or not. I can see her complaining about the bouncing while she's trying to paint her nails. 2 days in I'll be dropping her off at the airport. Lol. I'll have to wait I guess 5 more months to take passengers. She'll have to take some vacation. I don't even know where I'm going with all this. Mind just wandered.
Anyway, long story longer I really enjoy being on the road. I'm still trying to hunt down about $200+ from expenses and detention pay that I was told would get taken care of. But my first 2 weeks I have net over $600. An average of about $670. It is with per diem also because I'm still fighting to get it taken off. I signed the paper 3 weeks ago and I guess it's hanging out somewhere with my $200 in expenses. I hope it's on a beach or somewhere nice together. But in reality they're both being used as a coaster and severely coffee stained. I'm still trying to get a hang on this ETA and NAT thing. I have only been late once. But called the night before and had the appt extended an hour. So, that might not even really be late. I'm not sure how they score it. I'm usually an hour or the occasional 2 hour early. So when I've shown up and get done I call in. Numerous times they've said "well your NAT is set for 2 hours from now". I've asked if I should change it and they say no. Sometimes I sit for a couple hours because of this. I'm wondering if I should be changing it and when and what to? If any of that makes sense. Another thing is we were told to always put in "driver related" as the reason. Why are there all the other options if it's always driver related?
Off for now. Going to try to find something funny to comment on or maybe watch some tv. Yall be safe out there. And watch out for those Cincinnati poles!!!gentleroger and 91B20H8 Thank this. -
It's never driver related unless your sick or fatigued, always always always impossible dispatch, traffic or weather
gentleroger Thanks this.
