If you get a single axle jeep, get a jump jeep, many advantages. Can be "jumped" up on your lowbed ramps when not needed on the ground for the weight, or running empty. Also good ones have air- ride with a dump valve to aid in hopping it up on the ramps. In addition, jump jeeps are legal in Canada on permit loads, whereas pin-on axles are legal only in eastern Canada with overweight permits and never in western Canada (Ontario-Manitoba border west).
Aspen and K-Line make top-quality jump jeeps.
    Hope this helps.

The only problem I've ever had with the pin on was in an extremely muddy yard and I got hung up on it and was stuck. Otherwise backing up is just like anything else. Definitely get one that lifts for running empty and no they aren't legal in western Canada but if you're not looking to run there I wouldn't want to deal with a jump jeep.

Yes, a unpowered axle behind your tandems will get you stuck quicker than one in front of the tandems. When comparing to a jeep though, in mud a jeep will get you stuck way faster than any sort of lift axle.

Oh that's for sure. One of the reasons we went to the five axle trucks was to get rid of our jeeps off road.

    It's not complicated.
    1. Lock trailer brakes with maxis.
    2. Unlock 5th wheel slide on tractor.
    3. Dump air on jeep air suspension.
    4. Reverse, jeep will hop up on the tractor lowbed ramps on the jeep frame rollers.
    5. Re-lock tractor 5th wheel slide.
    6. Air up jeep suspension for additional ground clearance on trailer if desired.
    7. Good to go. (check overall length of your rig, permit might be required for overall length of your combination, depending on the jurisdiction, probably not unless your tailer is over 48')
    8. Above procedure works best when trailer is unloaded, of course.

I've only seen pics of jump jeeps, never actually seem one jumped. You just don't see them in these parts.

That truck could haul 60 tons easy. My truck which has a 20k front axle and 69k dana tridem at the rear. With 75k on the 3 axles of my landoll. I can pull 120k fairly easy.
