i have to agree as to be caught up in the never ending cluster of slow trucks is simply too much stress for me not to mention it seems like an accident waiting to happen.i hate having to high dollar lane it,and i truly shouldn't have to, but i do several times a day.
6 mo experience. Which company should I start with?

63 mph truck cause safety issues to 4 wheelers who in turn cause safety issues to others........x#1 Thanks this. -
Prime company trucks are set at 62, lease are 65. The majority of prime drivers seem to run in the 55-60mph range to save on fuel. Prime trucks arnt autoshift, they all have eaton 10s. Prime slowed their trucks down when fuel prices went up, these new trucks are capable of 9+ mpg if you keep your speed down.

So lets raise the truck speedlimit then and reduce the ability of the drivers to stop in time.Rugerfan Thanks this. -
I'm looking into be an owner operator but i'm deathly afraid of not making money due to these high diesel prices and not getting enough freight at a decent price to pay my overhead and turn a profit. What sources should I use to discount my fuel and acquire good loads? Who should I use for both?

What company to work for ?
I suggest you call Crete . Practical mile pay. And better than average pay rate . They have a terminal in Wilmer TX. Just south of Dallas on I-45. They are better than the other mega fleets imo. And I think they will hire people with 4 months experience. So you have enough. Good luck. -
Celadons
laredo-indy is a great team route
Crummy pay but pretty stress free driving rly.
More important consistent and might go through your house idk. -
Why must people jump ship at the moment they get the minimum experience? Makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

x#1 I really like your humor, my kind of guy. I'm a Dutch immigrant, live in Texas for the last 13 years. I have been a truck driver in Europe for a short time (about 5 months) 15 years ago. I'm ready to pick it up again, so I'm looking around for companies who can give me the opportunity to train me a little. I have my Dutch CDL, don"t know if I can transfer that to a Texas one, probably not. I think when I drive 2 weeks I will probably pass for my CDL. I'm 44 years old and would appreciate the advice from you, instead of from the young ones who think they know it all (that's like getting advice from my own (########) kids. hahahaa
