    I'm usually around 2500. The short version is I expect to clear $900 a week. I'm not sure you're tax situation, but figure around 1100 pre tax. Take that with a whole bag of salt because there is a lot more to it.

    This is always the dumbest argument, and a tell tale that you're a rookie driver. The math is NEVER the same as real life trucking. In the reefer world, we have appointment times that MOST are set in stone. Leave your thought in the trash can where it belongs! Ya know, the same trash can where you are SUPPOSED to throw your pee bottles!

    Wow, you came out swinging.

    Do you understand how appointment times at the big companies is calculated? Do you understand that a truck going capable of going 70 mph will average a higher mph than a truck going 60 mph on the same road and in the same conditions?

    Sure, hitting Chicago traffic at 5pm is going to kill anyone's time. But the 5 hours you go after you get out of it makes a difference. 50 miles difference barring other factors.

    If you can't understand any of that, just waddle your little hiney on home.

    EDIT: And just to add (since I know what you're going to say next) - even if you end up with time at the end of a load, it's better to sit it out off duty/not driving than poking along at 60 on the drive line wasting your 70.

    As a company driver, I figure every 15 minutes I burn (waste or lose needlessly) off my 70, for whatever reason, costs me $7.00 in gross wages. So I'm going as fast as I can within reason and at/under the speed limit. Where I am, restarts are very rare so it's not like I'll ever end up with "excess hours" to run

    I really don't care how y'all run. Do whatever it is that you do. While your sitting on a reset, I'll hit the horn as I drive past, because I haven't destroyed my clock.

    I know some regional/local hourly guys at a company I used to work for.

    They hook & deliver loads that have been dropped and also have trailers loaded and dropped for the line haul guys.

    Although their base hourly wage is only $15.50 an hour, they leave themselves on the clock for every task they perform. Including fueling, loading, unloading, etc.

    They most always get their 70 hours in which equates to 30 additional hours at $23.50 an hour, averaging $1,150 to $1,325 a week gross.

    They get home every weekend and reset their clocks, plus get home a couple of nights during the week usually.

    Prime's good for some, and I was actually looking at them very hard at one time.

    But then I found a company that gets me home every night, offers and appreciates, but doesn't require weekend work, and offers medical, dental, vision coverage and matched 401(k) contributions along with paid holidays. Pay is $80K+ annually.

    Based on comments from Prime drivers, if you like spending most of your time away from home, and spending your 34 sleeping in your truck, then Prime seems like the right company to go with.

    But you should know that there are other options out there.
