I live approx 60 miles from Swift OC in Decatur, GA.

If I went to work for Swift would there be any advantages?

And would there be any disadvantages to this?

Are you asking if there is an advantage to living so close to the terminal? If so, well, the only advantage I could see is that for orientation, you could just go home every day and that when home time comes around, you are more likely to be able to be home on time since you can T-Call the load. I lived in South Georgia and was based out of the Atlanta terminal. For me, the dispatchers were having to find loads delivering close by or headed to Florida. Not always easy and rarely home on time... Not their fault though.

So close? 60 miles? Home every night from orientation? That's a lot of gas!

Can't really address pros and cons from the company side. Many things have changed since I was company. But, getting home shouldn't be too difficult.

P.S. ...we call them terminals over here. OCs are (I believe) Schneider. ;)

You'd have the advantage of learning real quickly what not to leave in your truck. Decatur has (or at least, had) a pretty bad reputation for thieving mechanics.
