I thought I understood log book rules, but have recently heard conflicting information on how to tally toward the 70.
Basically I'd like to know how many on-duty/driving hours you can average each day before hitting the 34 hour reset
Is it 7 days:
1) 9.9
2) 9.9
3) 9.9
4) 9.9
5) 9.9
6) 9.9
7) 9.9
-------
69.3 hours total (10.6 hours available on 8th day)
Or is it 8 days:
1) 8.7
2) 8.7
3) 8.7
4) 8.7
5) 8.7
6) 8.7
7) 8.7
8) 8.7
-------
69.6 hours total (9.1 hours available on 9th day)
Thanks,
DY

Just like it states...70 hours in the past 8 days.
If you can count to 8 and add its easy.
DAY - HRS - TOTAL - AVAIL
1 1 1 69
2 1 2 68
3 1 3 67
4 1 4 66
5 1 5 65
6 1 6 64
7 1 7 63
8 1 8 62
9 1 8 62
10 1 8 62
On day 9 day 1 goes away
day 10 day 1& 2 go away.
Count back only 8 days. -
If you average 8.75 hours a day of on duty/driving, you'll never run out of hours.
Your 7 days are always subtracted from 70 to let you know how many hours you can drive on your 8th day and your 7 and 8 day total can never go beyond 70 hours. If they do, you screwed up along the way. -

That's the way it usually works at my company. Out 6-7 days, run hard then come back home to reset over the weekend.
