Here's some companies to consider since you need good paychecks soon. Make some inquiries because these companies hire new CDL grads, so they would hire you. Trimac and Superior make real good money right out of the gate. Plus, there's dozens of good local hazmat/tanker jobs in your area after you have 12 months experience in any 18 wheelers.
SVTN
Superior Carriers
Groendyke
Trimac Transportation
Tidewater Transit
Southeastern Freight Lines does linehaul out of DFW.

Good advice on here. If I were you I would leave that company if you know for a fact these other companies you mentioned will hire you. You don't need 1 year OTR most of them just mean they want you to have 1 year driving experience. My company said they require 2 years OTR buy i drove oilfield for one year, and local beverage for the other year. I would go where the money is. And right now the money is in tanker and foodservice. Try Suncoast resources for fuel hauling. And MBM, McLane, Sygma, or sysco or Ben E. Keith for foodservice. Also Martin Brower in Roanoke tx. They deliver to mickey D's. You might stay out a couple nights a week with those but you will make around $80K a year. Plus they give you hotels.

zackery2011 Thanks this. -
Put in a few more months and Trimac maybe an option for you. We have a yard in Grand Praire just north of Lonestar Park. Best paying job by far I've ever had. To me the best advice I can give is to build up your experience and try and get on with one of the top outfits. You're always gonna be looking to jump if you dont.

WM has good wages and a good union. All the drivers Ive had contacted with seem to be happy and content. If it can sustain you, go for it.

If i was you i would take the WM job, then keep your ears wide open. Being loval and home every night will help you land a better local gig. I dont know how you can accomplish that being gone from home on the road
-
Am I missing something, or are you saying you can go to WM OR the local beer truck? If that's the case, $14/hr for a local gig (especially if you have someone ELSE to unload for you) is definitely not bad money for someone with only 7 months experience IMO. Plus a $4/hr raise after 4 months??!?! #### man, if you want to go local eventually anyway, jump all over it!!!
If I misunderstood, then disregard all the above, and stay where you're at barely making money to eat.....LOLzackery2011 and tsavory Thank this. -
you just have to know that lumper deal is a lie
yea you go unload the truck i will be right here waiting for you
probably more like those Dominoes loads no one sleeps for 24 hours on the team truck -
the 1 year OTR job, usually means recent.
it don't matter how many years you run OTR. you go local for 3 years. you won't have that 1 year RECENT experience. or whatever, should you decide to go OTR again. so don't let the 7 months experience bother you. take the local job.
i did the otr thing 4 months, went local 10 years. back to otr last 3 1/2 year. -
No. I heard from the guys in WM that they fire people often Find ways to fire you. It would be a dream job if I could do it for life.
