Howdy, been at this game for just over 7 months now. I went from Western Truck School in Turlock to Swift in Nov '10. Had enough of the run around and being mistreated and underpaid at Swift so I'm giving Schneider a go. I have orientation with them on the 20th, should have been the 13th but Swift didn't get me home in time to meet my medical screen appt, even though I told my dm two weeks before that I was switching companies. Woo.

I'm a 25 year old single former USN member, no pets. Hope to see you out there!

    Hello and welcome!
Sorry you had such a bad start, hope the new company works out better for you.
I hear both good and bad about Swift, there are some ladies here who would not drive for anyone else, but also others who had similar experience to yours.

Anyway, best of uck with the new start, let us know how it works out!

I hope you find things different at Schneider but I firmly believe that any carrier that has a large number of newbie drivers will be basically the same. DMs, FMs, CSRs, etc are having to "hope for the best" and the "heads" at the top are counting on being able to keep payroll at a minimum (25-28cpm) to offset the staggering cost of insuring drivers who have little experience.

You might check into some smaller carriers that have NO TRAINING COMPONENT. You might find them to be more welcoming than you think. Some of the smaller carriers are "cleaning house" to rid themselves of the drivers that have brought them into DOT's increased scrutiny (CSA 2010?).

    Good luck!
