I am currently working for an environmental drilling company and we have been having a discussion about our re-start rules. I am trying to figure out if we still have the hours fall off after 8 days or if we have only the option of doing a re-start to get our driving hours back. Thanks in advance

either one. Depends on how many days the operation runs.

We usually do 10 day shifts and then have to drive back to our home station for our days off. Sometimes our transportation is a Ford F-550 and that is what we use for going to and from the hotels also. I was trying to find something on the FMCSA site to prove the point that we don't always have to take a day off before driving if we have any hours. Thanks for your help! We also run our one ton trucks and when we use those with no trailer we log as on duty not driving. The darn FMCSA site is so hard to understand and get definitive answers from.

This rule applies to companies that have a 7 day a week operation. So depends on how many hours of on duty time the driver uses. you can burn your 70 clock in 5 days with 14 hour shifts and then you would have to use a 34 hour restart rule.
