That's because GM is the cheapest of all of them. Not only is the likes of Apple willing to spend more money on the chips needed (supply and demand), most other car makers are willing to spend more than GM, but not Apples prices.

None of the chip manufacturers are in the US for one reason only. Tree huggers. Chip making is a dirty (mostly the water) process, and it's not really viable here. That said, even before covid, TSMC did plan on building a water hungry plant in AZ. Now let that sink in for stupidity.

When I bought my 2016 Nissan Sentra it was worth about $17K after I drove it off the lot. The lowest it was worth was about $6500 about two years ago. Then the pandemic occurred and as of this week the car is worth between $7800 to $9600.
It helps that it only has 12K miles on the odometer-and it’s a manual(no way I’m trusting those piece of junk CVTs).lol

I got my wife a '21 Camaro a few weeks ago. They had two on the lot, I took one.

Last November, when I bought my 'vette, they had a whole section of the lot dedicated to Camaros of all kinds... a #### ton of them.

And speaking of shortages, I need to go to the tire shop and order a set of tires for my car. It's normally a two month wait to get them because they only fit the Grand Sport and the Z06. They were $500 each when I inquired three months ago. We'll see how much they've gone up now.

That's because they are built in Lansing Grand River, which GM has shut down several times do to chip shortage, GM closes car plants to keep the higher profit and demand truck plants going.

It may actually come down to that in some cases. I actually have to look for tires for my Fiat when I get home. The Continentals finally wore down after 45,000 miles. The Pirellis the car originally came with when it was built barely lasted 15,000 miles!

Somewhat cheaper than the Super Sports it came with but a much better rain and cold weather tire. The OEM's are like greased cat #### when it gets below 40°. Still looking looking at mid June for the rears though.

That is true, but I know the GM dealers we deal with have been having issues since last spring. Dealers that will normally have 80-100 heavy duty pickups on hand only had 10-15. The Ford guys weren't as greatly affected until recently. Ford is pretty much only building fleet and retail (basically sold units) Super Dutys at this point.
