That was my thinking. But op needs to talk to someone knowledgeable in that state. Even if I was dumb enough to think I knew every law, in every state. My info would likely be dated. Laws change far too often. Lots of grey areas. I play in grey areas of my state. I try to at least yearly look at the wording. Exceptions/exemptions can save me time, money. I have been legal without permits over 102” wide. Deputy looked it over, waved me on. The ticket is his. The failed inspection imo he should be able to get that removed. But that’s my uninformed opinion.

Instant Suspension of CDL. That’s funny. Wrong! Check again.

Right off the SD webpage
CDL Disqualification or Cancellation | South Dakota Truck Information
CDL Disqualification or Cancellation
Temporary Disqualifications
CDL and CLP holders will be temporarily disqualified upon conviction of serious traffic violations, which are defined as:
- excessive speeding, involving a single charge of any speed 15 miles per hour or more above the posted speed limit
TurkeyCreekJackJohnson and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
It doesn’t say instant. Maybe you should read it again slowly.Rideandrepair Thanks this.

Level three is driver and paperwork,no equipment inspection.
The OP needs to educate himself about the job, which includes the rules.SmallPackage, TurkeyCreekJackJohnson, drvrtech77 and 2 others Thank this. -
Already mentioned maybe not instant and i will admit it was perhaps a poor choice of words. But i stand by what i said. A few over. That happens. Nearly 15 over is ####ing stupid and i wont back down on calling someone out especially for making excuses.TurkeyCreekJackJohnson, D.Tibbitt and Rideandrepair Thank this.

You have to have 2 convictions of tickets in the "serious" category in a rolling 3 year period to get your CDL suspended. Speeding 15 or more over. Unsafe lane change, tailgating etc. 90 day suspension for 2 in 3 years. Get a 3rd one and it's another 180 days. By then no one will hire you anyway.
Oxbow, drvrtech77, hope not dumb twucker and 2 others Thank this. -
From your own link a suspension doesn’t occur until the second violation in three years.Oxbow and Rideandrepair Thank this.

And yet again i already admited not instant and poor choice of words. What else do you want me to say? I made a mistake and ill own it. Im still not going to appoligize for calling the OP a #######.TurkeyCreekJackJohnson, Sirscrapntruckalot and Rideandrepair Thank this.
