this isnt a thread about 'have you ever driven past 72', this is a thread about being fired for driving 72 at swift. i know for a fact cattle haulers drive over 75. others drive 75...but if you look close enough, they are true owner/ops...they could drive 90 if they want.
but again, its not about if you have ever driven 72. its about agreeing to drive for a company and complying with their rules, then cryin' when you break the rules and get fired. that isnt the fault of the company, its the fault of the driver.....er.....i'm sorry....EX-driverscottied67 Thanks this. -

Ah... but if the speed limit is 65 and you are driving 72 as a super trucker, you are breaking the rules also. there is not a driver out there that has kept all the rules. I am not saying Swift is wrong for firing the dude, but we are not in a place to criticize him either!. We all have pushed the rules. and if we say we haven't, we are liers!

Yea your right, you dont know into you know. So just burn the brakes to stay at 62.

How many times did you go over 71? if you do it a certain amount of times you'll get fired, but the first few times you get an excessive speed they talk to you and give you a warning, thats why i'm asking.

Just to clear up a little bit of mud: Swift company trucks are governed at 62, a very few still go 65. Lease and contracted trucks are governed at 68.
In either case, 72mph is a "blatant" overspeed and a termination offense. It is written in my contract that if I go above 71mph, I will have my contract pulled. I agreed to it knowing all about it and since my truck rarely sees 65, I don't miss it, so flame away.
This guy took a 62mph truck all the way up to 72. I can guarantee it was done "floating" down a hill on the weight of his load. I don't hear him complaining he had to clean the truck out a thousand miles from home, so they probably spent a good portion of that time routing him to his home terminal. Just sayin'. -

that falls on the shoulders of the driver. how many of us have turned right on red, even after we see the sign that says "no right turn on red"? Have i ever gone 70 in a company swift truck? sure i have. this isnt about who can and cannot criticize the OP....i'm just saying 'dont cry about it' cause you knew the rules when signing the paperwork to drive as a company driver. end of story. this isnt about if you're an O/O and can drive 75, or who has or hasnt broken traffic laws.....scottied67 Thanks this.
