MN has a winter load increase for the frozen roads as well as a spring load reduction for the spring thaw.

My ND permit only allowed 16,000 lbs on the drive and trailer axles on the oversize load I took to the oilfields last week.

I just put in a splash of fuel.. cost me probably an hour having to stop 3 times but I made it back. Half the coops were closed, too.

Picked up a load in Calif. according to the BOL I would of been 77000 full of fuel. Made the mistake of thinking that Nestle was accurate! Not a good idea. Scaled at 300 miles out and was 83000. Ran it all the way to N. Illinois, Dodging scales along the way. Drove at Night and over the weekend. Was not happy. and decided I had enough of Old School Trucking by the end of the trip. It can be done. but is a lot easier when you can just breeze over the scales along the route.

Years back running team we ran melons on a rack & tarp from Florida to Buffalo NY at well OVERWIGHT , longest trip of my life using all secondary highways and back roads. Old guy I worked with knew every knock and cranny to get us there.

I like to head into a shipper with a half tank on both my truck and reefer.
That way, if they load me to the gunnels, I can do the ol' 50 gallon shuffle if needed and not be too inconvienced.
I also look to fuel just after a scale if possible, usually leaving me a few hundred miles before the next scale. I can over fill that way.

That scale can be avoided easily without even leaving the interstate. Couple of alternate routes
