I've never heard of this configuration until I got in my truck. It is a 2009 Freightliner Cascadia. It is fairly easy to shift. The shift pattern is a single H. It's essentially an 8-speed as far as shifting is concerned.

What if you have an old school pattern 9 speed overdrive where the 4/8 and 5/9 positions are reversed?
Or the oddball "R"pattern where 9th gear, not low, was the only one NOT repeated? -

I miss my 13 double od.
-
Thats a 13 speed minus the upper splitter.
-
Thats a 13spd with direct/OD splitter and the last gear is up against the dash.

One of my trucks with Swift had that transmission, and several vocational trucks I've operated essentially had the same transmission in the form of the 8LL. I've also driven a Mack RD with the OD trans where the gears were reversed... upshifting was enough, but downshifting when dropping multiple gears often required me to take a moment to stop and think about it.
BossOutlaw88 Thanks this.
