There's a line between counting pennies. And keeping your sh** fixed.
After all. If sh** isn't fixed. Pennies aren't stacking up.

So do I go buy a Porsche today because I want one? No. And FMCSA agreed the notarized affidavit suffices for the 8 day/30 day. So I’m not wasting $20,000 unnecessarily/year.nikmirbre Thanks this.

What does THAT have to do with fixing your equipment?

again, 20K a year for ELD’s is the wrong number. It’s ten times higher than it needs to be.shanman Thanks this.

Don’t ruin his narrative with facts. Just let him tell us all how much money he’s saving without an ELD, never mind that he probably employs someone who goes through the time cards each week and has to have someone manually do the IFTA report, both of which would be eliminated with the use of an ELD for short haul.shanman and Accidental Trucker Thank this.

Actually . And this isn't to be a Karen.
But my truck is actually making money now instead of spending money. Since the peoplenet got pulled out. Even my engine light has gone out. Unless the bulb burned out. I need to remember to check that someday. -
20k a year for elds thats crazy. I have 5 trucks with elds with keep trucking it 280$ a month for all 5 including ifta tracking. I don’t recall what each device cost because it’s been so long since I bought them. But they were not crazy expensive to buy maybe a few hundred a piece.
Long FLD Thanks this. -
I’m not sure why, but you guys seem to just want to ruin a persons day. If you have 5 trucks in service, you know the cost.
-
Do you buy parts for your fleet of 5 trucks without checking prices with different competitors? A $1,000 a month per unit for an ELD is crazy. There's a lot of ELD providers out there that cost a fraction of that. I was leased on at a small carrier and they charged that ELD cost back to the owner operators that were leased on. It was Omnitracs and it cost $30 a month. There might have also been some one time upfront hardware cost but I didn't have to pay that. @wichris would know, it was his company/fleet where I was leased on at.

I got a neighbor that lost a motor 8 months ago. He shopped it around for the cheapest price to the point some just hung up on him.
He went with somebody that had never done this before but the price agreed was right. Well 8 months later The shop thinks they got it done but the final bill is double what the agreed price was.
Which is more than the truck is worth.
