Man if you list that info on a Otr app, you pretty much can work for anybody. They love single folks who don't care about home time

OK, you're looking for coast-to-coast running and a pet policy:

    Holland Enterprises - Tripac APU/XM radio/satellite TV
    Navajo Express - HVAC APU/inverter
    Pride Transport - 20" satellite TV/XM radio/refrigerator
Melton Truck Lines - Tripac APU

Most companies have XM radio and you can also install your own TV & refrigerator if not company provided.

I'm looking at an offer from Crete for 0.48c/mile and I can bring my dog. I'm also starting to realize how underpaid I am at my current job. Can I beat 0.48c/mile? It looks like they have a solid reputation but their "about us" section on their website is kind of cheesy.

Tell Malcom in the new fancy trucks to keep his seatbelt fastened, close the sleeper curtain if he's watching TV while you're driving so you aren't distracted, and don't sleep on the top bunk while the truck is in motion because that's a safety violation.

Yeah Malcolm's a rough enough driver as it is.

When I was reading through your original post, my first thought was Crete. I know a guy went from Werner making like 33cpm after 2 years with them to Crete making 42cpm.. He's up at that 48-49cpm range now, I guess he enjoys it there. You could check out some of the union carriers like YRC. Union pay scales are 60cpm+ on the LTL side of things. Now, YRC did take a pay cut five or so years ago, but they should still be around the 55cpm range. I honestly have no clue if the truckload otr side of the union carriers go by the same pay scale.

I've heard Crete is a good company. You're right about underpaid, most companies do pay drivers slave wages.Ill be starting this tanker company and was very disappointed in the pay.I don't know how they can get away with it but for now I desparately need the money.I think I would be better off going back to factory work and work normal hrs with normal pay and I may just do that once my bills are caught up and have some money saved.

Also compare accessorial pays; cents-per-mile is only a very small factor in a paycheck. With all my experience I only made .36 cents-per-mile but annually made $65K. If you plan to basically live in the truck with Malcom, then compare ammenities so you both will be comfortable during downtime. As an OTR driver you will see many 10 hr. breaks, 34 hr. restarts, detention time, etc. on the road, so just depends on what you're willing to deal with.
Do it right the first time, then not have to deal with regrets.

Wow, $150 to put a tarp over a load. I'm getting my flatbed certification ASAP.

So, for example, Crete has three divisions (Dry van (Crete), Reefer (Shaffer) and specialized/flatbed (Hunt)). If I get certified for flatbed and reefer but go work for Crete will I get loads for any of the above or just dry van?

As far as amenities, all I need is room for a rackmounted computer/monitor, an internet connection and a signal boost antenna. And a mini fridge.
