800 Marine cam

    I've got a 800 hp cam [ 332-7303 ] 70/145 titanium bulls eye turbo, 58 injectors....suggestion on right fts/fls and tune ...looking for mileage and some what power....thank you: I might have put this in wrong place...please move it if needed

    Keeping it cool may be a prob , idk . But those high hp marine diesel engines use a constant supply of cool water to keep temps down

    -7/60 is a decent set of numbers for the combo you have. I dont know what file you have in it at the moment though.

    There are enough files you can run without a marine cam and get similar results. The 58’s will make sure of that. I ran on my former a Cat a 5DS 601hp file with 58’s and it would pull hills like you was driving your pick up truck, this was on a 5EK series.

    At some point, with increased hp, it gets like tractor pulling and drag racing. It’s not a matter of “if” but “when”. It seems to me, that building it the first time is expensive enough but having to do it again, in a short period of time, can be a lethal blow. Only thing that might save, the average guy, is doing the wrenching himself. There’s no way with my mechanic skills I’d feel very comfortable doing this, if I only have one truck. I’m not knocking it, I’m just aware of how expensive 20-30 year old engines are, to build to 500hp, let alone 10-15 year old engines to 700-800hp.

    One of my customers used to have a twin turbo acert that was de acerted. I did an overhaul on it and he never could keep a clutch after that. 300k miles later he sold it…that guy put in a new clutch and it lasted about 30k miles the shop that did it had it dynoed because they couldn’t understand the clutch problem. Was making around 3200 ft lb and 830hp on the wheels. I believe it has around 500k on it now
    I guess the moral of the story is the engine could live a while with the right driver…things behind the engine might have trouble

    Here’s my view point
    On a mechanical motor once you start trying to achieve 600 + hp it’s gets very expensive in a hurry
    On a electronic motor once you get to the 700 hp and above and you have to start throwing hard parts in it it gets costly in a hurry
    And every time you start manufacturing HP your sacrificing longevity
    Moral of the story HP does not come cheap
