What'd that run you if you don't mind sharing? I've got to replace every rivet on my cab. Just curious if its cheaper to buy the gun or just cut a cheque to the body shop and let them do everything.

    Oxbow Thanks this.

RAT2318 Complete Truck Cab Kit (accept Huck® Gun noses) 742415932995 | eBay

not cheap but cheaper than a lot of the alternatives. chances are ill end up needing it several times threw out the process so renting wasn't going to be a great option. can always re-sell it when im done with the project.

Not bad. That costs about 10 hours labour at the body shop I was looking into having do the work. I doubt a body shop would be able to rivet my entire cab back together quicker than that.

Got all but a couple of the rivets removed on the roof. Left a few just to make sure the roof stays in place until I am ready to fit the new roof cap. I did pull the front of the middle section up to take a look under neith and make sure it wasn't overly corroded. Cleaned up pretty nice with a wire wheel. I think I will be fine there. Although I see I still have more mouse best to deal with. KIMG0510.JPG KIMG0509.JPG KIMG0508.JPG

Seal it up good. Mine leaks in heavy rain and I wreck a stereo every few years.

replacement roof cap is a 1pc fiberglass so that should help as well. but right now whenever it rains the seat gets soaked and the entire floor is wet...lol ill be very glad when there is no longer holes you can reach your hand threw. im not sure exactly what ill be using for sealent yet but ill be dry fitting it first and then take it back off when my rivet gun gets here and sealing it and riviting it.

looks like it was all sealed with something similar to the 3m adhesive tape before. not sure how many cheifs have been in that kitchen but there was patches ontop of patches ontop of patches on the roof. the drivers side panel was held in by all aluminum hucks and the passenger side was all steel hucks so someone has defiantly had the roof cap or at least part of it apart before. the place i buy my paint from has everything under the sun auto body related im going to see what they recommend for sealant.

Pay some attention to the marker light gaskets. They leave alot to be desired on mine.

when i painted my mack i installed all new cab clearance lights i wasn't that impressed with the gaskets on those ones either. but i used some rtv on the bolts and then on the hole the wires come threw from the bottom side they haven't leaked yet.

In the Pete, if you go with a 379 cab light harness it will have a dinner plug, pretty sealed. Also, the inserts on the Pete can lights are dead end, meaning closed off, typically the bolts bottom out before the cab lights are tight. If you just use standard nutserts, then you'll be able to get the lights tighter to the gaskets. Usually you don't need any type of sealant, at least I personally never have.

In regards to the roof cap, being fiberglass. I don't know about now, but a few years ago, I spoke with a builder who used fiberglass, it was made by Talladega. He said the entire cap fit terrible, but he was able to cut it apart, made it into a 3 piece, he bought a new aluminum center section and used fiberglass corners and said it fit the best that way. The truck won big rig build off at mats, and I personally couldn't tell a difference and I pick most builds apart....just my nature being extremely specific.
