Also, you may or may not find it easier with the windshields out, we've done roof caps both ways. It really depends on how the fit is of the new cap.

Iv got the old cap removed and the new one fitted up. The fit up was awful. They shot way to much fiberglass in the mold in the corners. It wouldn't even go on the body till I spent a few hours trimming excess fiberglass from the inside of the cap. Got it sitting where I want it and just temporarily holding it in place with 4 3/16 bolts. It will come off again before final assembly.

Now is the time to just leave the horns and lights off.

Run the horn underneath and some 3/4” lites in the drop visor.

    Poof.... no more leaks.

Making lots of progress already!! I had a feeling this would go quick? Next thing you know you will be spending every day on this instead of trucking for money.

I’m the same way if it wasn’t for my wife and the bank man.

That's an idea not sure I would like the look though.

Iv been picking away at removing rivets for probably a couple weeks now every time I had a spare few mins if knock some out. Had a lot of rain the last few days witch made it too wet to get in and out of the construction sites I'm delivering to gave me me some extra time to spend on it this week. I planned on getting the roof cap fitted today as well as change the air compressor mounting gasket on the mack as it's starting to sleep. Didn't get to that today though as I didn't anticipate spending 3 hours just getting the roof cap to fit on the truck....lol. my goal is to have the truck done in a year. Witch is a pretty tight timeframe for this scale of project when you still have to work to make money...lol but normally every winter I take some time off around January February. I want to paint the truck around that time when I can divote a solid a chunk of time to it. Witch may seem a little backwards but to me the mechanical is easier to break up into smaller projects when I'm busy.

It's not been fun...lol I can't say I would be happy to do it again. It will make me happy though to not have rain leaking into the inside of the truck anymore though

The 359 roof cap and 379 flat top roof cap have a different curve. At a glance they look the same but are not

That’s a pretty good idea. I moved the horns but I didn’t think about moving the lights to the visor.

iv got the roof cap finnished now. ill have to try to grab some more pictures for the thread.

i ended up using windshield urethane as sealent. i talked with my body supplyer and kinda determined that might be the be the best option. they had several body panel bonding adheasives but they warned that if i were to ever need to take it back apart again for any reason that it would probably be a real challenge to get it apart without absolutely destroying everything. although the windshild urethane probably would still be a pain to get apart might be slighly better, could have used a foam weather strip more like what appeared was there originally but it seemed like this would probably seal better.

it all went together fairly well. its all huck riveted in.

i put 2 more videos up on youtube one on removing the old roof and fitting the roof cap and then another on the finial install and riveting the top on.

Good to know. I was going to use 3M window weld as an adhesive/sealant on mine. Any plans to add more cab insulation during the rebuild?
