    3rd Quarter 2013 IFTA = 9.57 mpg

Still working after 2 years and 200K+ miles.

Been fighting brake issues lately and learning that there is a lot of trailers out there with brakes slightly dragging killing fuel mileage. Temp gun is getting a lot of use researching this issue further.

Something isn't right about your readout or it isn''t complete? Being you are based out of NC I would expect to see miles run in that state, along with VA in order to get to DE? AB is Alberta, correct?

I think I see now... This is only the first page? Sorry I'm used to the hand written style IFTA report thats why it wasn't making sense...LOL

This is just page 2 of 4 pages that Carolina Independent Trucker Services does all my IFTA reporting for $25 a month along with keeping up my permits and filings. The mpg reported is what I wanted to show and the other pages are not important to that. If you want to see the other 3 pages, come by and I will show them to you.

What a surprise, the quote I was promised to receive Tuesday afternoon finally got called in to me Friday afternoon, for the Hendrickson lift axle kit installation. I won't have to worry about getting the work done there, with a price of $2,400 "as long as there are no complications." I'm still waiting to hear from two more places near Charlotte. I may end up getting them welded on my self and figuring out how to install the control valves myself. That would be the least expensive option, but I'd rather pay someone to do it and have it completed in one day and be done with it. The dealer in Ohio will be next to get a call the way it seems to be going. Still amazed that so many shops are willing to turn away work, while complaining that they don't have enough business!

As for the discussion about what mpg increase there will be, there are far too many variables to say what it will be for any particular equipment combination. There is also the aerodynamic consideration of varying flatbed loads, and of equal importance the ability and willingness of the driver to concentrate on achieving the best mpg which is largely a willingness to drive at reduced speeds, which the egos of so many of today's drivers will not tolerate.

A friend of mine just did his. He had a welder come out and put the brackets on and mounted the controls himself.[IMG]

I think that is going to be the solution, thanks for the pic .40cal.

for the kind of money that last quote was I could go to welding school then do it all myself!

There used be a kit available in Ireland, can't find any info on it , basically it was an arm u-bolted to the axle pointing towards the front of the trailer , an airbag was then put on the end of it between it and a crossmember, when you pulled the valve the airbags on the suspension would deflate and the airbag on the arm would inflate lifting the axle, no welding required, although I can't find info on the kit it wouldn't be hard to make one, I do like the job done on the one above, very neat! Unusual to see supersingles on trailers in NA

Super Singles are becoming more common. I don't know how much I'd trust the U-bolts. The kit I'm looking at is from the manufacturer of the suspension itself. I'd trust that a lot more than anything from a third party, there's too much at risk if something were to go wrong. I understand at least in AB you need a permit to have a lift axle, do you know anything about that?

You need to buy an annual permit to run super singles in AB and a few other Canadian Provinces. Getting ready to go to Calgary, AB over the weekend and just re-newed the $15 permit about a month ago.
