I don't do this every day, but I can get 2,350 miles on a tankful if there's no idle time. And, I've got a boatload of driving tips and techniques- but it's way too much info to post here, it could be a book.
Tried to post a link but it's not working tonight. Go to YouTube, check Dave26027's videos. I made a quick video of an 11 MPG day. In the no-idle season I see a lot of these trips.

6.3 solid up from 5.2 running 65mph average. Check mileage every fill up. Don't have a readout. I think with a few more changes I could poossibly see 6.7 or 6.8 but I think thats max.
I'm not suprised there's not more posts here bragging of crazy good mileage. Aint gonna happen in the real world where time is priority pulling a real load consistently. I don't think there's to many of us that can afford to drive 55 and still stay alive cumawwwwn. -
Explain why???????? -
55mph x 65hrs = 3575 miles
65mph x 65hrs = 4225 miles
75mph x 65hrs = 4875 miles
Miles x CPM = PAY CHECK!
American TruckerRollinThunderVet, chalupa and Sumothertrucker Thank this. -
but dont forget that your costs are larger per mile on higher speed
so i would say that there is no too much people who can afford to drive fast
of course there are some jobs which need to be fast when you are in critical point with time -
is doesnt cost a Company driver any more
American Trucker -
but in case with dice1
that is not applicable
in eu it is prohibited to pay drivers by hours by km´s or anything similar
and you have very strict rules about working time
so this protect drivers from exploitation
so there is no big demand on drivers in my country drivers are still pay by km´s or % of transport price ( between 10-15% of transport price one friend of my father pay his drivers 20%)
so most drivers do only 6000mille per month -
Since most drivers in the industry average between 2,500 to 3,000 miles per week, it appears speed is irrelavent to the number of miles ran.
Even my 3 dedicated runs are easy to run at 57 mph legally that would total around 3,200 miles per week, so why spend extra money on fuel, tires and maintainence to do it any faster. The way I used to those dedicated runs before I slowed down and made fuel mileage changes to my truck used to cost me an extra 240 gallons of fuel per week for 3 runs and at $4 per gallon that is $960 in fuel cost alone per week not counting extra tire wear and maintainence cost to go faster.
$960 is like another paycheck (.30 per mile x 3,200 miles) if you are company driver lucky enough to bring home that much after taxes, but if you are company driver with no incentive to save fuel, I don't blame you.....hammer down my friend and tear up my competition's truck and cut their profits down by blowing all that fuel out the stack and please idle all the time even if you have an APU.
Thank you to all the company drivers for helping out!aktundratugger, chalupa, double yellow and 5 others Thank this. -
