Oh I know exactly what dice is talking about it's just the amount of energy absorbed by the drive train has surprised me, I had never driven a 6*4 before and I'm staggered by that amount of extra fuel needed to power a second drive axle, I'm just wondering how much I would gain with only 1 drive axle, mine is a 4*2, I wonder is it worth taking it off the road to get it done as I wouldn't have the same gains as dice, I'm thinking I could buy a whole set of wheel bearings for the truck and trailer and leave it at that, dice got good gains by just doing that alone,
Besides the wheel bearings wouldn't be a huge investment

I did not do the U-joints on mine because I felt they would not make that much difference and I could not do the carrier bearing due to it being a sealed bearing.

Got my truck back in the 9 mpg range. Had a bad return fuel line leak that I did not find till I fixed a bad check valve that allowed the fuel to drain back in the supply side that kept the return fuel line from leaking when the motor was not running. The FASS kept me from finding the bad check valve because it primed the motor. It would have lost prime with the bad check valve without the FASS.

2 fill ups this week at 9.44 mpg and 8.95 mpg respectively.

I still have a slight fuel pressure fluctuation problem under full throttle load for some reason. I just swapped the 150 gph FASS pump motor today for a 220 gph pump motor that did not fix the problem. Any suggestions?

I have plastic lines on my truck. If they weren't plastic, I would have replaced them already.

    Les2 Thanks this.

Dice what's up with the rear ends? Micro blue check them out to inspect them? I real curious about how they looking? I know you said they might of been set up to tight for their liking and maybe caused some premature wear. Let us know what's up Mr.

    Sorry guys.

MicroBlue pulled them and everything was fine. The back rear end that was in my truck is now in one of Kevin Rutherford's single axle Fed-Ex trucks running from Orlando, FL to Richmond Hills, GA everyweek in a relay pulling doubles. He's prelininary numbers were reported as a gain of 3/10ths mpg and they have added the MB wheel bearings since then.

Rutherford should be giving a full report on MB once they have 30 days on both the rear end and wheel bearings.

I just went to Michelin X-One 455/55R22.5 XDA Energy wide singles that I like. They are still breaking in and are noisy that seems to be getting better the more heat and cool cycles they are put through. They are very soft rubber that needsto heat cure to quiet down and get better mileage i am finding out.

It is hard to tell fuel mileage since my region started pumping winter blend diesel through the pipelines September 1st, but it looks like a 2/10ths mpg gain already that might get better once the tires are broken in more.

There is probably over 100 trucks now using MicroBlue Wheel Bearings with the 3 axle 4 x 6 guys showing 4/10ths and the 5 axle wheel bearing changes that included trailer have reported as high as 8/10ths improvement with just the wheel bearings being MicroBlued.

I have found out that Cats Construction Divison uses Advanced metal Coating Technology to make the huge dump truck cylinders last over 3 times longer.

Interesting report from Caterpillar back in 2001 about coating parts in it's Heavy Construction Equipment Diviison: http://statusreports.atp.nist.gov/reports/93-01-0055.htm

Even led to some patents on a simular process by Caterpillar: http://www.freepatentsonline.com/7404841.html

Cat even advertizes this process to triple the life of those huge dump truck cylinder rods due to their Advanced Coating Technology: http://www.cat.com/cda/files/1464370/7/Resealing%20Hydraulic%20Cyli...

It might not be the same as Microblue, but Advanced Coating Technology is being used in alot bigger equipment than OTR Big Rigs.
