Those rust trails from each lug nut might mean they arent exactly tight. I’d definitely get it fixed ASAP, and make sure it’s torqued to spec.

What an idiot. My Volvo has 9.5 out of 10 lug nuts at all times, at least. Sometimes I put 11 on there in case I lose one.
-
Really?
it is acceptable to a DOT officer.
The rust trails are caused by the nuts rusting, nothing else. It is called oxidation.stillwurkin Thanks this. -
Why does that steer look like a recap also, meh I'm sure its totally safe, you know e-logs and all.
olddog_newtricks, KB3MMX and loudtom Thank this. -
I was thinking the same thing.
-
Doesn’t look like a cap to me. But even if it were it’s legal to run them on the steer unless it’s a bus.Farmerbob1 and jamespmack Thank this.

There you go again Long FLT teaching me something new again I always thought it was illegal to run a recap on the steer but I googled it and it says it’s legal on anything but a bus but I’ll be danged if you’ll ever see one on one of my rides !!!jamespmack, Coover and Long FLD Thank this.

jamespmack Thanks this. -
Wow, I didn’t realize you could tell the amount of torque on a lug nut from a picture. How much oil was used per stud? Would you say by the amount of threads showing that’s 450 ft lbs?Last edited: Mar 11, 2019
wore out, jamespmack, Ruthless and 2 others Thank this. -
Hey it happens you fix it when you have time or if DOT shuts you down before you had a chance to fix it.
I don’t think it is a big deal, but that’s just me.jamespmack Thanks this.
