Anyone have experience with a 9 speed ?
What is the shift pattern and the shifting procedure.
Same info needed for the super 10

dont know bout the 9 speed,but,the super 10 i have and love it.Almost like a high and low gear 10 but simplier.Instead of going thru all the first 5 gears then shifting up to the higher gear range on the front of the shifter,you basically go from 1 gear to another by shifting,then hit the button to the next gear.Ex.5th to 6th,your in 5th and hit the button for 6th,no clutch needed.You can then shift up to 7th and without using clutch,shift to 8th with the button.I love it and except for starting out or reverse, float my gears with no clutch.Takes time to get use to rpm level to do it but saves on clutch and time.Hope this helps a little,not too good at explaining things.

I would take the 9 over the super10. Less to mess up. The super10 has two splitters in it and I have been told they can hang up between 6 and 7. -
have had my super for 5 yrs and never a problem.I had to change the gear handle kit once,10 bucks in parts and did it myself.Every1 has a preferance,mine is the super 10.

The only problem i ever had with the super 10 was it wanting to downshift from 10th to 9th on its own when the truck clearly needed to stay in 10th. 9-speeds are not a bad tranny either

They have probably worked out the kinks. I had issues with one I had over ten years ago. Good to hear they got better.

Getting ready to sign on with a small, local carrier. They run Sterlings with mostly 9-speeds and a few super 10's.
Your replies have all been very helpful and much appreciated.
What are your thoughts on Sterlings ?
Anyone have any experience with them ?
Do they still make them ? -
I have driven as Sterling day-cab. Same as a Freightliner. It had a good turning radius. Easy to see out of. Sterling is a working class cheaper truck but, all in all I liked the one I drove. It was easy to drive and road as good as you can expect a day cab to ride.

There's a video on utube from Eaton Fuller about the Super 10, shows you everything you might need to know about it.
I bought an old Peterbilt with one and that's how I got a lot of info about it. -
Super10 has 1 splitter, a thumb splitter. Its like shifting the top side of a 13 speed.1/2-3/4-5/6-7/8-9/10. With the same power levels as a truck with a 9, a Super10 will run circles around a 9.
