I've got a 92 model 379 Pete with 60 series Detroit, jakes quit on everything but 1st stage, my mechanic said it's the jake brake control module in the dash, local Pete place said the part is no longer available, wondering if anyone else has come across this and if so any answers

Whatever the part is, you should have a smart shop be able to build a custom replacement to activate your jacobs in the engine via wiring to the switches. Maybe the part is no longer made, great. There is always a way to have someone in a good shop wiring it to suit until your Jacobs work again.

I cannot stand a shop that says sorry, no can do no part. I rather have a shop say, sure we can build you a switch harness to get your jacobs going again.

Do a search in the upper right box of this TTR forum. You will find some very recent threads dealing with jacobs switches etc. Just type the word Jake Brake switch into it.

Did you rule out the switch? Mine, in a w9 would work sometimes. I changed the on/off switch, then it worked fine. If the on off switch goes bad, there's no reason to believe the 3 position switch couldn't go bad on a 26 year old truck.

I'm not saying your mechanic is wrong, but I'm not sure a ddec2 had a Jake control module. If it did, it more than likely is a Detroit part.

Ya I personally changed both switchs on dash first, it definitely has a control module, he showed it to me, the wiring from clutch switch and cruise and jakes all go through it, I'm having the Pete place contact the vendor that made it to see if we can get it, who knows

    Bean Jr. Thanks this.

That being the case, maybe Detroit or Freightliner could get it for you.
