Problem might be that since it's at a dealer they prolly don't know any history on the truck, at a million miles it might need major engine work, bearings in the tranny are getting about wore out as well as the rears, and clutch unless they have been done recently it could be a money pit. But thats the risk you take with an older truck. The engine is alright, it's no power house but it will get the job done

Go cheap on the price those trucks are going for a song these days. If he's got full records go a little higher. I would be at least a couple grand under the asking price.

that thing oughtta pull like a train. isn't 3.91 a pretty low gear?
did the dealer slap that in to make the wore out engine pull better?
don't know much about big trucks really.
you're gonna pay cash for it right?

I didn't notice the tire size, nothing wrong with the engine, other than it isn't supposed to last as well as a big block, but it is much lighter. 10 speed overdrive, it might be decent for rpms in high.

Check it over real well, it might have a Rockwell trans, if it goes bad, you can get a reman for it, check the power divider and see if the ac and heater controls are working right for the cab and the bunk.

If all the fans and controls are working right and it's clean,it is probably worth buying, if not, I would pass on it unless they get it fixed.

They call those small sleeper trucks coffins and it's pretty tough to be comfortable in the sleeper if the heat and ac aren't working right.

I checked again, tire size 11R22.5.

Yep it would be cash. I wanted to run end dump midwest pretty much. I also am looking at trying flat bed i think i'm in a good area between the cities and chicago. If i could get it and get 6 months then i could inframe it. I was told they were cheap to work on an inframe kit is only $2100. Im am hoping to go up Monday and take a look at it i have been busey. If it dont work out i can always go back into tree work.

i too have pondered buying a truck similar to this one price-wise; in fact i have been looking at cabovers (i love those things) that are $10k or less as i could get a newer truck ('00 Fr-Shaker) and run it regionally around Houston to get it paid off! My goal much like yours would be to get about 4-6 months out of it.
