i have a 97 378 Pete, the cruise control is stuck on. When I turn the switch on, the light on the dash lights up and goes out when I turn it off. However with the on/off switch in the off position or unplugged I can still set the cruise or bump the idle up. Any ideas on where to start would be great.

a new steering wheel with new buttons would be my first thought... buttons are hard to fix switches are easier but on the wheel is where they typically are located and that is difficult place to replace on .. it may be easier to just get a new wheel... if it were a switch or button on the dash that would be easy you could just get the switch/button replaced and rewired on it but the wheel can be troublesome, less time and effort with a new wheel
