Hello. I've decided to get into this new for me industry and I need a little help to get me started.
Been working in hardwood and tile installation after highschool graduation (I'm 23 now) and didn't want to go to college at first. After some time, I realized that it's not what I want to for the rest of my life, but didn't want to be struggling "flipping burgers", the way other students are. So I've been saving with intention to invest somewhere, having the kind of work, where I'd still be able to learn something after job is done, and not fall down on a couch, feeling like I'm dieing.
Planning to go to school this fall, so, I want everything to become a routine work by that time.
I want to buy a truck, get a driver behind the wheel and dispatch my self. If everything goes well, may be buy a couple more. I did some research on the internet, but everything is in general phrases, and couldn't get much useful info from there.

I'm located in California and I want to register everything here.

That's going to be an LLC.

    1. What licenses and permits should I obtain?
    2. What do I need to get state truck registration done?
    3. What are the costs?
So, basically, what paperwork, and how much does it cost?
    4. What are the underwhater rocks?
    5. Where can I see and learn dispatching? Unpaid internship in some compamy? )))

As I already said, I want to dispatch (may be become a freight broker later), but I know nothing about it. So, whatever you think could help me, feel free to write here.

    6. What didn't I think about? :)

    Thanks

You make more money flipping burgers. In all seriousness get your education and a job with a trucking company, broker etc.... as a dispatcher or load coordinator and learn the business. That is how I did it except for the education part, but my love was driving and so I jumped back in as a owner operator. After working in dispatch with long hours, stress, dealing with all the problems and constantly have the phone to your ear, at the end of the day you just want to go home and get drunk and beat the wife. (beating the wife is a joke, no hate mail please) Buying one truck and putting a driver in it is not a get rich idea.

Learn a lot more about the business or you will get raked over the coals.
