Flatbed drivers seem less emotionally “high maintenance”, and less prone to post complaints than most. JMHO

Lot more hard work involved...man up or get over it, is more/less the common attitude. Which I tend to agree with....If you didn't want a physical job, you're pulling the wrong trailer!

Lots of flatbed drivers are owner/operators, vs many dry van and reefer folks who are company drivers.... O/Os have more control over their jobs and loads than company folks... and many company folks are a paycheck away from being homeless... and generally LOVE to whine and complain, versus being thankful for what they have, doing a good job, being professional, etc.

O/Os don't have a support staff of a bunch of drivers to "repower" a load if they decide to go past baby momma's house or spend extra time at the casino...

O/Os, generally speaking, have to be more serious, because they only have themselves to blame if their paycheck comes up short - company folks can blame everyone under the sun, other than themselves, in that case.

    Flying Dutchman Thanks this.

LOL, I remember back in my monument company we would get our shipments of granite on flatbeds. I was responsible for getting the truck unloaded. Did it for16 years. Couple years ago we got a new driver, it was his first run, he hauled logs before. Apparently he had a brake check during his run and the granite shifted, so he pried it around with his cheater bar.:biggrin_25513: Not only did he destroy $2,500 in granite, but he thought he was going to sit there and watch me unload 7,500# of stones by myself. After that run he went back to logs.
