This may be a silly thing that only I care about, but it is cool when I watch shows, news, movies, and they mention all of the cities that I know very well since I have been to them all over the US. One time I watching a show and they said that someone was located in Tulsa, OK and that is where I was that dayIt just seems interesting when they talk about places that I know about whereas before I was just limited to the few cities I visited prior to becoming a trucker. I have been all over the US and Canada already except for states like Nevada, California, and only went through Pensacola, FL.
I also thought it would be impossible to remember my way around so many different cities, but it is a cool feeling when I arrive and remember things about the city like my favorite truck stops and walmarts.
A cool thing about trucking that I never heard anyone else mention

I have been amazed at the places I recognize on TV. The news will show a place, road or building, and I will say I have seen that.Las Vegas, Miami, Atlanta, many big cities are shown in movies or TV show, and I would remember seeing it in person. The TV show " COPS " was good for that. They would show a road, truckstop, business, or strip club, and I would know the area.

That is neat! I like the personalization of having been somewhere. Like watching the movie "the Rock" after taking the tour of alcatraz...
You left off one cool state in your post though, Illinois! Heheee

Oh yeah COPS is good at that, in fact I recognized the places before the name appeared just because of so many shots of the city from that show alone heh.

Something else that's pretty cool is the connection factor when meeting someone new. I know people from all over the US and when I have a chance to meet someone new I tend to be easily able to make a connection with them because I am likely to know a little something about the area they are from.

It also surprises me that I will get to talking to someone a thousand miles from home, and they will know my neighbor or friend:smt038.Or perhaps they lived close to my home at one time, maybe know one of my relatives from elsewhere. When you start a conversation with a stranger, will nearly always find something in common. Amazes me at times:smt023.

Unless of course it's driving thru one of these cities at rush hour. Like Atlanta.
But I'll tell you, the coolest is driving off the interstates, at least thru rural America. Feels like stepping back in time.Like US 35 in Ohio, where I'm at now.
