i have also just got hired by tmc.. have heard allot of negativity torwards maintenance and stuff like that and about them forcing you to cheat on your logs whats the truth to all of this
I have never been asked to cheat on my logs, nor to run illegal...Believe me, Saftey will bring you in for a stern talking to if you get caught fudging your log books or not running within the DOT's laws for hours of service. With the satelite and web logs it provides and the fuel stops satelite link up, they have a pretty good idea where you are and where you've been and where your headed...As long as your somewhat close to that they will leave you alone, but stray to far they will defintely have questions for you
What JoeCool said, I've only been deliberately told to violate HOS once, I've been called and told to pull over and finish a break twice. In my experience they want you to run legal. The overall negativity is pretty legit though, there are some real problems at TMC. I'm sure there are real problems everywhere but the problems in your own house will always get your attention.
I still hear that from time to time. My answer is always ....... the load will be there on time! The greater cause will always prevail in this business
if they keep my last check I will be in immediate communication with the PA and IA departments of labor. not going to happen that easily.
thanks so much for the info i didnt believe it but just wanted to be sure.. i am very excited about my opportunity at tmc and cant wait to start orientation.
this week... 3 loads, 1700 miles, lots of time wasted going into and out of Canada. made it home at 3pm on a Friday though. all I really did all week was roll up tarps and drive a little here and there. the new policy of drivers without passports picking up Canada loads and then swapping at the border is getting real old, real quick. not only does it waste my time, but the other driver's time too! had to practically beg to get paid another $50 to offset the 77 mile load I picked up at the border.
