Hi all,
I am in my early 30s. I work in the field on IT and find it curious to become a truck driver for few months. I find it exciting to drive truck cross country - I think that is the best way to see interesting parts of country. I dont have license yet, but considering it. My wife finds this exciting as well and if I do something like this, she will join me for sure. She wont drive the truck but she would love to come with me. We dont have kid yet and I think this it the time to do something like this in life.
I joined this forum to hear from experience truck drivers. Is becoming truck driver for few month really interesting and fun or am I dreaming only? How did you feel when you started driving? What will you recommend me? What are the tips for getting license? What are your recommendations for getting truck driving job for few months?

I think you need to start READING the forums. You do enough research here and your questions will have been answered.

I will make sure to do that. Thanks.

Let's see....
Spend up to $6000 for the CDL. Quit or take a leave of absence from your job and drive for 2 to 3 months. You will not pay off the training in those 3 months if you are living on the road. Chances are good that your wife will not be able to go with you (it depends on the company) in the first months anyway. You will also be with a trainer for some time in those first months in order to learn the job.
If you are independently wealthy then, feel free. You don't need our input to do it. If not then don't bother. It is not worth the expense for the little bit of time you plan on putting into it. As well, we don't need any more fly by night steering wheel holders out here on the big roads. There are enough of them already. -

Flyin finn, summed it up! Save your money. Maybe find a friend or something and just ride with them for a few days. That should get the truck driving jitters out of you! I wouldn't spend the money on school unless you plan on doing it for at least a year. Keep in mind too that you will be away from your family for a month at a time with 2-3 days off when you come home. Why don't you get a Class B and drive a dump truck around town or something. Will be a hell of a lot cheaper and you won't miss your family.

you wont be a truck driver in a few months--you could maybe buy your license and get a job--and hold the steering wheel--but you wont be a truck drivee
sorry if i sound rude--but thats how it is--if you only drive a few months--that isnt even time enough to be comfortable in the truck let alone learn very much--at the most, all you will have learned is just enough to make it dangerous for you and for others on the road -
Rent a big RV.
