so thats how you put more weight on the steers. I guess he didnt feel like sliding the 5th wheel. Or is he trying to spread the weight to haul more coils

I was going to just to see how pointless the test was, but on the principal that I think the more people that do would cause more states to make up their own tests and charge you for it as well, I am going to tell alabama to stick it in their ear

Actually, the regs say a strap or chain "for" every 10ft. This doesn't mean you have to space it out every 10'.

I dont... My truck is a triaxle and has a 22ft long bed, I load a bunk of 8' & 10' logs on the front set of bunks, 12', & 14' logs on the back, then I top out with 16' or 18' logs. I use 2 straps. Now on t/t I put the 16's on front, 8's and 10's in middle, and 12's and 14's on the back bunk. I was informed by the DOT that 1 strap on the middle bunk wasnt enouph. Funny how you can go for years and never have anybody catch that till just recently. Its all just for looks anyhow. Speakin of the DOT, I havent seen 1 for 3 weeks till this morning, passed 2 car loads before noon. Must be gettin hungry, lookin for those food stamps:biggrin_2552:

3 Maverick trucks just got busted out here on I-44 in Missouri. At least one had a coil come loose, I think someone mentioned they only had two chains per coil. Three trucks on the side with 4 bears, someone's in trouble. :biggrin_255:

If thats true they will probably be fired.

Maverick does their best to teach their drivers this...but some drivers just don't listen. Taking shortcuts during load securement gets people killed.

I'm gonna quote Dean..."Safety...Why risk it???"

(yes, I drank the purple KoolAid...and I liked it)
