Ok, I've been out of the OTR loop for about a year, and looking to get back into the saddle. I talked to more than a few Millis drivers when I worked for Menard's, and they sound like one of the few decent legit companies left.
Living just west of the Mississippi river on the MN side, I understand i will not be able to take my truck home, and will have to park my personal vehicle at BRF. Good deal, I don't want that responsibility/hassle anyway. When its 30 below zero and my fuel filters/tanks turn to jello, I'd rather have that be the shops problem and not mine. So to clear up a few questions they do appear to be hiring from Minnesota if you are willing to bring your POV to a Terminal.
What are you guys averaging for miles with the electronic EOBR's? I'm sure there will be no more cowboy 4600 mile fly by night weeks, and that's ok with me. Those "big money" weeks at other companies I worked for seemed to only be good for bragging rights and knocking me into the next tax bracket, while frying my nerves. I would be happy to break between 2500-3300. I know that you have to take the good with the bad, that's just truckin'.
Anyone had any major problems with the elogs? I know that both driver and dispatchers need to do a lot of careful planning, I'm just wondering has anyone got hung out to dry? For example what if you're close to the end of your 11/14 day and you come up on an accident, and are forced to sit for hours on end till they clean it up? How do they deal with that?
Are you still given the choice to NOT be paid on their per diem system when hired? I think the small amount of extras you sacrifice in the first two years is well worth it if you plan on sticking around there long enough.
Also, I hate to ask this, but if I elect non-per diem, I just want to make sure they aren't going to give me the shaft for miles?
How much does your health/dental/life insurance cost and how good is it in your opinion?
Hometime? I talked to one of their recruiters today, and she said generally you are out for 14 days then home for 3. Do they still have it where you can stay out for 21 days and be home for 4 1/2 days?

One more thing, they're not going to stick an experienced driver in a 62 MPH truck are they?

As for the elogs if you are close to running out of hours and came up on a accident and had to sit and wait for it to cleaned up then drove to a safe haven as long as you put that in there they should not have a problem. As far as mile go i was one of the first group of guys to get put on them and i am still averaging around 2500 to 2800 a week going home every other weekend. Yes you still get to choose the straight pay or per diem and no that will not make a difference in the miles you get a week. Insurance for a single person is around 50 dollars a week don't know what it cost for family. They will let you stay out for as long as you want but normally you only get 4 days off not including the day you get home. As far as how fast your truck will go I do not know that you would have to ask someone in safety or recruting.

You do NOT get paid while in school, YOU pay to go to the school. You start drawing a paycheck when you go out with a trainer. As for MO, I've never delivered in the state but run through it all the time. It's a common lane we use.
