Hello, I was really interested in working for Watkins Shepard and was about to head to orientation but on my job history a previous employer that I worked for 4 years ago told them I stole money from them [not true] and it's turned into a big mess and now I'm starting to look for other companies to start off with incase I don't get this thing patched up soon. [And when I apply to these other companies I'm not going to put this god #### employer on my job history] What this employer is doing is highly illegal and sure I could go to court for defamation but god #### it, I hate lawyers, I hate the court, and all I want to do is get to work!
I know, it was kind of dumb of me to put all my eggs in one basket, all my other apps were into oilfield companies and they all wanted experience.
Are there any starter tanker companies? I am really interested in doing tankers.
I already have my CDL, acquired earlier this month, what can I expect to make my first year with swift, werner, or roehl? Are there other starter companies I should consider?
I'm kind of afraid of working for swift and werner, you can only hear so many bad things, but I've heard good things about roehl and watkins shepard. Really bummed about this watkins debacle.

Im not blaming or judging you just asking ok?Why would your past employer say you took money? Can you fill us in with more details? So how long was you employed there? You might as well put it down they will find out.If this is what you truly wanna do then take werner or swift.I don't care what you heard about the other 2 companies you mentioned, its trucking, there is no perfect company out there. The good you heard is for those drivers only.Who says you'll have the same exp?

Try a construction company that has some dump buckets, flats and lowboys. That will give you an idea of what you like to pull the best. Keep in mind, all of this safety stuff is putting more rules on securing loads. I know someone who recently had a $267 fine for not having enough straps and was issued another for overwidth by an inch our two. I think the snot nose diesel bear was having a bad day. I'd stay away from all those companies in those truck stop magazines. Your better off mowing lawns

I worked for this gym for 2 months. I felt like my paychecks were low so I started taking pictures my timeslips. I found out he was taking hours out of my paychecks, so I called him out on it. I should've did the smart thing and went to the dept. of labor, but instead I said, pay me for all these hours you took out of my paychecks, or I'm out of here, he would'nt give in so I quit, I don't work for free. I don't steal, I've always lived an honest life. Clean MVR, zero criminal record.
The dude was scummy, his business was basically contract-scamming, and he was not happy about me calling him out on this, so I'm not surprised he would attempt to spite me in this way. It's just funny cause I've had several jobs since then, I can only assume these other employers I've had just never bothered to call my past employers. -
If a lawyer contacts the guy, he will back off in a hurry. Something similar happened to me & just the threat of a lawsuit ended it. The trucking company owner suddenly discovered his daughter, who worked in the office, was writing phoney expense receipts and signing the drivers names to them.
Contact a lawyer or OOIDA; they can help end this mess very quickly.
Schneider, Prime Inc., and FFE have tanker divisions. Prime could be a problem though with the employer accusing you of theft. You may have to take what you can until this problem is solved, or try to leave that employer off your list of past jobs. Check Careerbuilder website for jobs also. Apply with Paschall Truck Lines. -
Thanks a lot for this info bud, really helps a lot. -
as far as starter tankers your best bet would be schnieder and prime I work for QC and i think they require a yr. You will find that tankers are abc smaller field of companies and most want exp bc there tougher to drive the slosh really affects you and you gotta watch curves and turns. you can try dry bulk for starters as well im not sure if any of those companies will start you but it cant hurt to ask

It sounds like the former employer has harmed you financially with a false statement.
If you can unequivocally back that up with the pay stubs etc, then I would look for a lawyer who will take the case. With a letter of denial from Watkins stating that prior employers comments are the reason you were not hired.

and they are going to ignore your application because they are most likely not interested to know......Too much trouble...So Clear your NAME asap Good Luck -
as for the not working for free. you better get used to it. cuz the majority of your trucking job will be free labor. you get paid to drive. you don't get paid to load/unload. or waiting. and if your tanker. there's washing out.
there are a few companies that actually do give you clock time though. but not many.
