A little background about me, I am 29, live in West central Indiana, will have one year experience OTR come July 4th pulling vans. I drive for an AWESOME company that treats me well BUT I have always wanted to try flatbed. So if some of the guys here that work there would answer some questions for me, that would be awesome. (please do not answer if you do not work there and have first hand knowledge)

    1) Recruiting told me $900-$1200 before taxes a week. Is that doable?

    2) I know they are anal about the trucks being clean inside. How far do they take it? Am I allowed to mount my satellite radio in the truck and run the antenna outside?

    3) Until you have one year in you cannot deviate from their route. Do they route you 100% turn by turn from point a to b?

    4) Where can you fuel? Can you fuel whenever you want?

    5) Can you make decent money ($600 to $700 take home) a week and still be home every weekend?

    6) Do they normally do preplans? Or is there a lot of waiting between loads?

    7) Are most of the loads east of 35 or do they truly run all 48?

8 ) How easy is it to move up the ladder? ie;dedicated, specialized

    9) about what percentage of the loads are tarped?

I know there are other companies out there that people push pretty hard on here but I really like the weekends home idea.

Thanks in advance for your help

    1) very doable if you work hard
    2) You cannot alter the trucks in any way. A big percentage of the trucks have satellite radio in them
    3) They do give you pretty much 100% of route. I planned mine close to what they had and never had issue
    4) Fuel stops are given. Starting out you should follow them
    5) again very doable
    6) preplans depend on the area you are delivering to and your fleet manager. I get them maybe 20% of the time at most but don't sit waiting a long time for a load to be put on me once empty anyway. Again it depends on fleet manager
    7) Most are east. You are in good location in Indiana. I go there at least once a week with loads
8.)not sure about dedicated but I think it has a lot to do with where you live
    9) tarps probably 70% +/-
    Good luck!
