That all depends upon what THEY pay for out of THEIR cut and what YOU are expected to pay for from YOUR cut. The less they pay for, the bigger YOUR cut should be. If they are only paying 66%, they'd better be picking up a heck of a lot of the costs...

66% is a bit low I think. But I also think we're missing some information from you.
I'm an O/O with my own truck.
For example, I get 80% of the gross for each load. I see the confirmation/booking sheet directly from the broker/shipper. I have a set minimum agreed amount I will run a load for. Anything less and it needs to be discussed before booking the load. Anything at and above and does not need my prior confirmation.
I pay for my fuel, I pay for my tag/registration for my truck, I pay for bobtail (Tractor insurance), I pay to lease the carrier's trailer, any and all repairs/service/maintenance to my truck are my responsibility. I operate under my carriers authority and his insurance for cargo/liability etc. I get a small fuel discount as well as a fleet discount on tire purchases. They have a few direct shipping accounts, but the majority are brokered loads either direct or through the load boards. I'm paid weekly settlements.
What does giving up 44% get you? Are you leasing their truck/equipment? Most O/O's who lease their own truck to a carrier are generally getting 70% - 80% of the gross. Usually guys who run on the lower end have a few more perks to make up for the difference. It usually evens itself out one way or the other.
I'm only a year into it and this is the first carrier I have leased on with. So I am no expert on the different lease arrangements out there. I'm only going by what others have said to me. Generally we dont talk about money unless someone is disgruntled,. and then he's singing for all to hear.
I know there are guys who do much better than me financially as they are driving some very expensive set ups. I can only hope to reach their status once I learn how to improve my business skills and remove my carrier from the equation.

Will be leasing their truck. Buying my tags and everything but will be going threw the company if I added it up right should be about 600is a week. I will be getting discount threw them for fuel. And With fuel surcharge. Didn't get nothing on paper was just talking to the safety man about it. I know theit no end of turm buy out and he also said if it doesn't work their won't be no lease term broken or anything. And abother thing how bad are quarter taxts? Sorry if this is all jumboed. I run dry van any guess what freight pays persay not an exact but around about I know everything is different. But with 66% for simple math freight pays 1000 = I would make 660. Run that for five to six days = out to about 3300 a week if I get that each day

And I do know can't think I'm hood rich with the money would still pay my self same as if I'm on pay role persay 700 to 800. Pocket for me and everything els would go back to truck, taxes, other expenses for truck.and another thing to throw in lol all repairs are in clueded in the 600is but if I brake down on the road town n service calls on me.
