My fiance is a newbie he graduated Aug 24 went with a certain company BC he wanted to try to get home most weekends during training he got fired because of going up a very step hill with a lot of red light he kept down shifting and the truck was still making that knocking/bumping noise anyway he was down to 4th gear as it still continued and the truck stalled he told his trainer to take over for a little bit BC he was nervousness abt it and needed to calm down and watch as his trainer did it since he never experienced that before ect. Anyway he got fired over this and they wrote it down as he quit so that he could find another job. So we are now looking again and only have averitt in mind and we are waiting til the weekend to get a call back but obviously we need other options! There is no concrete company around hhere that is hiring and we are trying to stay away from Werner and a few others BC one he doesnt want tto do team and he wants to try a place to get him home most weekends not 2 wks out 2 days home that's an absolute last resort and don't go a saying oh well if he wants hometime like that this ain't his field of career BC I know that is pure BS there are limited companies but there are companies like that! We've tried looking into local and haven't found anything that doesn't want experience we've also filled out for coca-cola and Pepsi and we couldn't find an app for Budweiser just looking for some help and when given its greatly appreciated

Hi,
I'm just down the road in Surgoinsville...give Maverick (flatbed...not glass) a try...and and explain the getting fired in detail to the recruiter first thing, right up front...Maverick does their best to get the flatbed divers home most weekends.
Its very hard to get a local job without some OTR experience. -
buschjobs.com is the career website for bud..i don,t know too many companies thats gonna get him home every weekend during training. once he,s solo..he mite luck out and get a regional position.

Sorry I should've used my periods above^ I did not mean hometime during training , just when he's out on his own I very seriously doubt to many companies would allow home time during training other than averitt or if ur trainers near u.

Sorry to hear the events of this, not being use to a stick shift I imagine is really hard on a person. My husband is a trainer so I know the trials and tribulations that go on. It was I think most likely a very dangerous situation being on a hill stalled out; it is too bad that the trainer did not do the driving himself to begin with, but I imagine most trainers are on a very tight schedule still. What really upset and scared hubby was one trainee who went right through a redlight, didn't even attempt to slow down or nothing, this was after he had been on the truck 4wks training; he got taken back to the terminal where they could evaluate him again, I don't know if they put him back with another trainer or not since this is one of the companies who have schooling attached to them. He also had one who basically suffered from roadrage, got all hyped up everytime someone did something he perceived as against him such as a passing car. I will have to ask him how he would handle a situation like your fiancee had I guess.
Usually training time is spent over the road wherever the dispatch sends you, he may not ever be in the Kingsport, TN area during this time. Unless written in ink or some route that just goes so far and back again, hometime at most companies has to be turned in 2-3wks in advance and then they try to find loads going to the area to get him there. I don't know how it works at Averitt, it looks like they have a lot of terminals across the nation which would make it easier maybe. Most companies will not let you have hometime if you are under a load.
US Xpress was pretty good for him back a few years ago, but he ran and I was riding with him then so we only went home about every 3 mo.
With shortage of shipments though the miles may not be very good though, and I doubt if they will get him home every week.
Until he has some more experience he may have to take the best fit he can find and worry about changing later on.TRKRSHONEY Thanks this. -

I wasn't in HAL-3, but recognize the helo. I still have my Bupers letter informing me I was on the list for door gunner; then things changed and all new orders were cancelled. My buddy lost most of his toes on one foot when they were shot down, but they still let him re-enlist. Have you looked at hullnumber .com?
