A journey of a new O/O with celadon

I did research this for about 6 months. When I started at swift, I started with the intentions of going owner operator. When I researched it (my only option being lease purchase at the moment) I found nothing but people bashing lease purchase, however, I kept running the numbers and they kept adding up to be much better than I was making at swift. So I decided to do the lease purchase as long as it would be a walk away contract. I transitioned to celadon because 75 percent of the load revenue seemed like a much better deal than the flat 1.08 you make a mile at swift. So now I'm here. I'm running my ### off. I've covered well over 2k miles in the last 4 days. I think this will work for me if I run this truck as much as possible and turn nothing down. Maybe when I get 20 k in the bank I'll be picky but until then...I'm running this truck until the wheels fall off.

How do you figure if it breaks you don't pay for it?

I wish! I'm from Florida, and I worked in the oilfield in birthday for a few years. So I'd see my buddies!

 

The money I pay for the truck includes full maintenance coverage for anything that breaks. From tires to the engine, all the way to a wrecker to tow me if needed. The only things that aren't covered are little junk like the cigarette lighter and superficial things

 

Ya but what about when your sitting in a motel waiting on repairs and not making a dime? You pay one way or another brother..

Similar to Texas. Nothing great comes out of there. Sometimes okay loads going to Texas from Oklahoma but then you're in Texas again lol.

 

They have 48 hours to get me to a replacement truck, or get a replacement to me. Also I'm not taking home time for 6 months at least. So a couple days off would be alright. No kids, no wife. No girlfriend, but I do have a few "gal pals" around the country
