This is why I worded it the way I did. I always endeavor to word what I intend to be conveyed, and I'm glad that it was taken as that, especially for the electronic forum. But, secondarily, it is a good point to be made for my interest to know about the difference in the quality of their training.
Thank you. I have relived each incident time after time, readjusting my thinking, and I'm fully aware, even more now, of the additional 73' to my back and triple checking, or more, the right-hand mirror. I always believed in G.O.A.L. but, I need to remember, as Ridgeline has pointed out, not everyone can be good/safe drivers, "even when they try hard to."
Y'all stay safe!

AS for the other's I can only say G.O.A.L. but for the fire main, well, I if I knew they were on the phone calling my company then I would have been on the phone with the local fire marshal for their need of a citation because if memory serves me they are supposed to be painted the specified color that is required by the fire marshal to determine that it is a fire system and color determines it's GPM/rate and in most cases valves are supposed to be marked red and the pipe according the the GPM to make it easy for them to identify. Not the same color as the building that can camouflage or make it difficult to see. Its an eye for an eye kinda thing.

I totally agree - the trucking industry NEEDS you, so you need to be more firm when talking to recruiters. Look at some posting boards (there are tons of them out there). Go to the Chamber of Commerce website for Hiring Our Heroes since you basically have the same requirements as someone exiting the military. There are companies that will fly you, put you up in hotels, etc. where they need you. jparm, you have options!!!

I'll do better this time when I go to Orientation with Swift in Atlanta the week after the Fourth of July.Last edited: Jun 17, 2014

I have re-read my posts and understand how vague I could be. I believe I owe HotH2O an apology because at first I think I misunderstood the reply she or he posted to me. But, here you have at last the basic truth of what I lacked to keep my trucks at two companies.

jparm, I don't think I am looking forward to meeting you out on the road.
I would be too worried that you would take off the front end of my truck, all the while trying to explain how it is no big deal because you managed to get your load delivered with no damage.
You can believe in G.O.A.L all you want to.
But if you get out and look, but don't actually SEE and COMPREHEND what is there - what good is it!?
5 G.O.A.L.'s per backing is a bit much, because it shows that you really don't have a grasp (of the angles, lengths etc.) to do it properly.
You mentioned "not everyone can be good/safe drivers, "even when they try hard to.""
Have you considered that you just might be one of those drivers?
That, no matter how hard you try - it just won't be enough to be a SAFE driver? -
