  1. Truckers Report Jobs

    Trucking Jobs in 30 seconds

Every month 400 people find a job with the help of TruckersReport.

  2. I had no problems out on the road. 12,000 safe miles mi, 9,000 with two neurotic and conservative trainers. I even get criticized by my family members personally in my own vehicle for being the "slow" driver in Lower Alabama. I won't be meeting the front end of your truck, unless you make that decision to overtake me at the wrong split second.

Granted, I had misgivings about accepting the first solo load at my first company where I caused my trailer-tipping incident. I thought it was too tight a schedule timeline and I was flustered as to when to take my 10-hour as I had 3 hours driving time on my clock as they sent it to me. But, it was my first load at my first company, so, suck it up and accept the challenge? I ended up driving through the night and most of the route was a two-lane U.S. highway through Central GA. Never again, as long as I can help it.

I didn't say "not everyone can be good/safe drivers, "even when they try hard to." It was a cut and paste from a previous poster.

I hope we meet each other sometime, though. I have taken a little bit from each and all of the comments made to my thread starter. I look forward to more constructive tips you have to provide.

    Stay safe!

  3. Chinatown, this will be the option I had without paying for the Refresher. I have a measure of comfort in that they have one of the longest training hours requirements of all companies I have heard of; longer than the ones I have been at!

Thank you for the best wishes. Stay safe!

I'm taking time to update my original thread because I got 6 mos. recent experience with Swift, and I'm looking for another company to continue with to gain more experience. This is my honest input to the Intelliapp database that most of the majors subscribe to, since Roehl is reporting my previous incident that I described, and Swift is reporting these as accidents. I achieved a >98.00% On-Time rating with Swift, and made a .02cpm 6 mos. Safety Bonus, before the final incident. But, I'm done with embellishment:

    Motor Vehicle Record

    2. Have you ever been convicted of driving during license suspension or revocation, or driving without a valid license or an expired license, or are any charges pending? No
    3. Have you ever been convicted for any alcohol or controlled substance related offense while operating a motor vehicle, or are any charges pending? No
    4. Have you ever been convicted for possession, sale or transfer of an illegal substance (including but not limited to, marijuana, amphetamines, or derivatives thereof), or are any charges pending? No
    5. Have you ever been convicted of reckless driving, careless driving or careless operation of a motor vehicle, or are any charges pending? No
    6. Have you ever tested positive, or refused to test on a pre-employment drug or alcohol test by an employer to whom you applied, but did not obtain safety-sensitive transportation work covered by DOT agency drug and alcohol testing rules in past three years, or have you ever tested positive or refused to test on any DOT-mandated drug or alcohol test? No

    Vehicle Accident Record
Were you involved in any accidents/incidents with any vehicle in the last 3 years (even if not at fault)?
Type of Accident / Incident Non-Injury Date of Accident / Incident 01-2015
    State/Province AZ
Were you in a commercial vehicle? Yes
If yes, was this a Department of Transportation recordable accident? No
    Were you at fault? Yes

Description: Pulling straight through in a single-file truck parking slot at a truck stop, with plenty of space when I was recovering from a U-turn and I scraped the right front fender of a tractor to my blind side with my trailer.
Type of Accident / Incident Non-Injury Date of Accident / Incident 09-2014
    State/Province OH
Were you in a commercial vehicle? Yes
If yes, was this a Department of Transportation recordable accident? No
    Were you at fault? Yes
    Were you ticketed? No
Description: I made a right turn into a parking lot from off a state Hwy with overtaking traffic on my left side. I knocked over a Speed Limit sign near the curbing of the driveway. I self-reported the incident to safety after having contacted the local law enforcement and assured that they were not interested in filing a report.
Type of Accident / Incident Non-Injury Date of Accident / Incident 08-2014
    State/Province MO
Were you in a commercial vehicle? Yes
If yes, was this a Department of Transportation recordable accident? No
    Were you at fault? Yes
    Were you ticketed? No
Description: Backing incident that I received assistance with where I damaged the driver side fender of the tractor parked on my blind side with the rear right corner of my trailer.

As of today, Carolina Cargo is the only company that is offering to give me a seat at their Orientation. And, I've long come to realize it's more than a 'little...situation...'

Did Swift let you go or are you leaving them? The most recent incident is from January unless you didn't post it or I missed it. Why would they wait 5 months?

  6. Swift terminated me. I've been working two part-time jobs at home, one driving a straight truck at a non-profit, but they're cutting me out; it's office politics, nothing I caused. It got me still jonesing for the OTR life, something I fairly easily accustomed myself to.

    Chinatown Thanks this.

Just basing this on your post...you have a tendency to get complacent at about the 90 day point. This is the thing that most companies are going to be seeing just like I did. This isn't saying you are "an accident waiting to happen" but you need to work on your attention to business full time. Even though these "incidents" seem minor to many, they do act as a "potential history revisited" to any future employer.

Just giving some advice on where you could improve yourself and how to possibly approach any potential employer. Admitting to yourself and to others you are seeking to work for, actually isn't a bad thing. You can use this as a way to show you have the skills to "self evaluate" and would "appreciate assistance" to continue this career.

Keep trying, but keep the little things at the front of your "monitoring"! BTW...since Swift reports to DAC, try looking at companies who don't use the DAC (also known as Hire Right) for checking drivers background.

    I like this one.

Pulling straight through, when you were not yet straight at all.
Plenty of space, when clearly you didn't have it.

You show very 'creative writing' skills, in all of the 'incidents'.

The phrase "recovering from a U-turn" is classic.
