I am new to this forum. I graduated from school April 6. I have been appling to companies and have been very honest on my apps. I have 2 misdemeanors. Both of them are for drug charges. 1 charge is simple possession of marijuana from 1998. I got 1 year probation for it. The other 1 is from 8/2007. It is also a simple possession. Got a small fine and 1 year probation. Can some one please tell me of a company that will hire me. Im a very hard working and very honest. Starting to get a little ill cause all im hearing is you have been turnd down. Ty you for any advise any one can give me.

Honestly, it would seem that marijuana has been part of your life for a good, long while and one would wonder if it's not still a part of your life. DWI, possession, alcohol, reefer, whatever, it all goes to the person's ability to make proper or improper decisions and not have the ability (if they are going to do it) to not get caught.

The last thing a carrier needs to worry about is the potential driver going to test positive for alcohol or marijuana following a possible major accident somewhere in the future. As this would take a very costly situation and turn it into a potentially extremely costly situation.

Not trying to be an d### but as one who used to be responsible for hiring/firing of drivers we have to look at past behavior and decision processes that led to a charge as much as the charge itself. And there is too much liability and exposure in the trucking business to take unnecessary chances where there is a documented history to call into question a person's past behavior and little to cause one to think this has changed [for the better] recently.

I am sorry your past is coming back to bite you in your rear like that. I honestly hope, so long as the marijuana is a long gone part of your life, that you can find employment.

I do have to mention that you need to take this as a learning experience. You really need to research any possible major life changing move, such as a new career that requires costly training, before just jumping in and going for it. I believe your inability to gain employment due to past charges is something you totally could have found out beforehand.

That said, I still hope you can do something with your new CDL. Good luck to you!

Ok guess i could have said this a little better. The second charge was not me. I was driving another persons car and was the only one in the car. I told the State Trooper and even had the owner of the car go to court and admit it was his. They told me since i was the only one in the car i had to take the charge. I have been clean off any kind of drugs since 2001. I dont even drink. But ty for all the comments

Not sure what your ideal job or how your Motor Vehicle Record looks, but if you want to go with a large "starter" company doing OTR or regional, you should have at least several opportunities, esp in NC. Those charges will definitely disqualify you from some companies however.

I think most of the starter companies like Swift and Werner would give you a chance

My mvr report is pretty good. I got 1 ticket for a 9 mph over 64 in a 55. in goes off in 6 months. Ive tried Werner and Swift. Swift want 10 years and Werner said since i had 2 of the same charges. When i did all my research and talk to people before i did this they all said basicly the same thing. The one from 1998 would be over looked since it was over 10 years old and most companies would work with me on the 2007 charge. Well its just apart of life and just got to hold my head up.Thank You to all for the advise that has been given.
