Shouldn't be any issues, so long as you get your CDL.

As far as picking out a good job. Each company is differant. There are ones that I will never work for. But that doesn't make them completely bad.

However, there are true crooks in this business. And some of them own over 1000 trucks.

Sort through all the post you see here. Then make a short list to start with. Toss them to the forum, we'll help you whittle it down to 5 or 6.

There are certian companies you want to stay away from. Those will be obvious.

I don't know what Averitts hiring policy is when it comes to experience. But I do know them seem to be a good company. They are running a lot of local/regional freight. And I do know they require a High School diploma. I found that out through a friend (20+ years experience) who was denied a job, because he never graduated.

    Redneckroy Thanks this.

At your school there should be several differant companies that reqruit you for there just do your part and investagate these companies before you sign, I am not in the loop of entry level companies that hire with no experiance. You will no doubt have to pay your dues in this industry but thats what its all about, once you get your needed time and experiance in provided you KEEP A CLEAN MVR your choices of jobs are many. Just protect your new livelyhood your licence and try to pick the right company.
    Good Luck

Crete's a good company that pays better than most and treats you like a person. That's all I got.

Oh...I forgot..if you want to train with them you need to contact them ahead of time to check about school accreditation. They have a little higher standard. And they have a new facility in Knoxville,Tn.

Decide what is important to you (hometime, good benefits, higher pay, etc.) and look for a company that offers that. However, take everything the recruiters say with a grain of salt. I've worked for four different companies and been lied to by each one.

Talk to Charles Bailly Trucking in Sparta, on the left as you go south on 111, not far south of Averrit. Sorry I can't remember someone's name, I think Sandy was a broker, Butch is one of the local drivers.

Crete is a good company with high standards. Actually, Crete does not yet have a "new" facility in Knoxville... it's due for completion Spring '09.

Redneckroy, don't worry too much about living close to a company's terminal, (I live in Northern, CA and my company's headquartered in Linclon, NE)...if you're a National driver and the company you choose has a policy that allows you to take your truck home, you'll get home.
