If you're still looking at Zeitner & Sons, Inc. (thread's a little old), I can only tell you what I have been told by their drivers.
You have to be able to 'enjoy' Chicago. Zeitner is a "midwest" carrier, and Chicago is a main hub for midwest freight. Living in Iowa, you will see Chicago atleast once a week, and more likely twice.
Been told, their web site is so 'vague' and informationless, is because they (Zeitner) like to size you up, and offer you're pay package based on how smart (or dumb), and how 'hard-up' you sound or seem to be.
Apparently, they push you in bad weather. Running I-80 between Chicago and Lexington, NE. can get icy and treacherous at times in winter, and Zeitner pushes you to complete the run regaurdless....and find a way to punish you if you don't (i.e.- all the sudden there's no freight for a day or two).
Now I HAVE to tell you, that the drivers I talked to told me they have been there long enough (and put up with the 'games') that they are pretty much content with the company, that they had no plans to leave.
So; I guess, if you can put up with Chicago every week (some can, some can't), and stick it out long enough to get passed their little games---proove to them you DO have what it takes---the guys I talked to said it ain't so bad.
Sounds like "longevity" is the secret with Zeitner.
