A living in the truck and eliminating my residence question?

In the past, pre-9/11 & pre-REAL ID it was pretty simple. Now you basically need to provide 2 different utility bills (not a cellphone bill) to establish your residence.

I use a PO BOX for mail but most or all states will not accept a PO BOX for CDL. You need to use a friend or family member who will let you use their address as your CDL address. But you likely will need to pay for 2 of their utilities (not a cell phone) and then use those bills or statements at the DMV. In my state, once you have a CDL, you must make an office visit to change address or add a PO BOX mailing address.

If you use a friend/family member's address I would also have your mail sent to a PO BOX or mail forwarding service since people often seem trustworthy at first & then they become crooked or someone in the home becomes crooked. Someone getting your mail can easily commit ID theft using your info. PO Box & Credit Freeze are both effective at stopping ID theft.

It's no longer 1983 & rules about address for CDL have changed a lot. Old advice will likely waste your time and not work anymore.

In my state the state rejects the addresses of UPS Stores and similar places as valid address for driver license use.

Your state doesn't want to lose another tax payer.

Has nothing to do with what?

States that are losing people or areas that are depressed will ask less questions about leases, magazines with my address on it as proof of residency etc.

That's in conjunction with an in person voucher combined with a signed affidavit. That's pretty thorough. I interpreted your post as a state would accept a magazine by itself as a form of proof.

Back in the day it would have worked by itself. Same as cell phone or pager bills but those days are over. PA is strict. I lived outside of York for several years twice.

They're not really hurting for people either. Marylanders have taken over most of the SE and central lower part of the Commonwealth.

NEPA has been inundated with NJ and NY fools and Schittsburgh has been overrun with yuppies from all over the country. CA, TX, VA and MD have pretty much replaced true PA people in the area.

The center of the Commonwealth is where people are not being replaced as they pass away and they are far from the majority of the entire state. It's all a numbers, politics and fed funding game.

If I wanted to transfer my CDL to Pennsylvania, I am confident I could do it with a passport, a postmarked package, and an auto insurance card and that they would mail my license to my PO Box. Their website says those options are available to me. Their rules, not mine.

But the OP already has his PA CDL. He hasn't said when it expires. If it was me I might just move out of the apartment and worry about getting a new address when the CDL expires.
