Straight to the point: I am paying almost $600/month for a place back in my home state that I have only been to for about 5 days in total in the last year. My fleet doesn't get that many runs back home, and quite frankly, I kinda like just living on the road. I want to get rid of my apartment, but it is listed as my place of residence on my DoT forms. I was wondering if there are any documents I can sign to acknowledge that I am a resident of the state, but do not have a formal address, or something along those lines?

What's the location of your residence/apartment?

Find a responsible person, add them to the lease.

That's no longer possible legally. You can't use PO boxes. Has to be a residential address. Try Escapees for an address. They're in TX, FL and one of the Dakotas. I once also rented a room from someone for 200/month to keep a real address. Both of those options helped me for many years.

I'm assuming there's no family or a close friend back home? I sold my house for the exact reason. It was just sitting there. So I use my sister's address.

Well, there's something to be said about an actual place to get away from the truck, but with costs today, and the equipment provided, it's entirely possible to ditch the home 20. Years ago, living in a truck was torture. Oh sure, that bunk was mighty handy after a long one, but I still had to have a home, and stayed away from OTR for that very reason. The "rolling apartments" today make those old trucks horribly obsolete. With electronic mail, it's possible to have no physical mailbox at all. I have all my bills on my credit card, and try and depend as little as I can on the USPS. UNless a total hermit, got to be someone you can have junk mail forwarded to.

There are some states that will put your PO Box on your license. New Hampshire did this for me when I moved there. I had to prove to the DMV that I actually lived there though. They make the process hard to prevent people from neighboring states from taking advantage of their low tax rates.

Mail forwarding services. Will give you street address. Some will text or email pic of what came in. And ca n open and scan if you ask or send it to you where you can pick it up

When I drove I used a private mailbox as it gave me a physical address for my CDL but a P.O box for mail. You can try something like a UPS store.

Do you have friends or family in a no-state income tax state?
If so, use one of those addresses.
South Dakota is easy and all you have to do is stay in a motel room for a full 24 hours.

The state I live in is PA. I do have family there, but mostly old, and I don't want to bother them.
